Yeah but I don't think that's what they mean, the Cinderella original story was alot darker as the ugly sisters chopped bits of their feet off to fit in the glass slipper . And they got their eyes pecked out by birds .

I did a whole project in uni about Nursery Rhyme/Fairytale origins and was so shocked at most of them.

Like, Rapunzel was basically a sex slave in that tower.

Alot of the original Fairy tales have a darker grim side I think .
I much prefer the family friendly versions

But aside from that ,I don't think fairytsles need updating as they're classics .

OMG that's insane

. But like you said nursery ryhmes also had grim meanings as well , e.g ring a ring a roses is about the plague . You just wouldn't ever associate those things with children's stories and songs . It's interesting but bizarre at the same time .

Children aren't stupid. I loved Cinderella etc. when I was a little girl, never did I think that the stories were real or in any way applied to me. What people may need these days is a ****ing reality check.

What are we going to do next, rewrite Shakespeare? After all, he had a positively Elizabethan view of women.

Speaking of Cinderella, what always used to bother me is how the **** can anyone walk around in glass shoes?
