[Desk Plant, the creator of the game, has said it will look for another platform to take it ]

[Rape Day, a controversial game which
allows players to kill and rape women,
has had its release cancelled on gaming
platform Steam after thousands of people
signed online petitions calling for it to be banned.
In a statement, Valve, the company which
owns Steam, said it had removed the
game because it "poses unknown costs and risks".
The visual novel game - where you make
choices on how a story develops - was due
to be released later this year.
It had been listed on the Steam website
promising to let players
"control the choices of a
menacing serial killer rapist during
a zombie apocalypse".]

There are more than enough games - presumably - where you can simulate sex and seduce random cartoon women without the concept of rape, so the idea of basing an entire game around that one premise is just...baffling in its lack of awareness of how unwell it'd be received.

I would be concerned about anyone who WANTED to play that. I mean, it different to the likes of GTA, where mods can make it a bit more adult..at least the game is there and this **** is just in the background. But for the whole game to focus on rape? Ugh/. The creator is dodgy as ****

The game looks badly made and would have sold very few copies on its own... erm... merit. Now that it's hit the mainstream media and gained notoriety because of "controversy", if he does find a place to release it, it'll sell.

Whoever created this game cobbled together a cheap and cheerful(...) game and packed it full of the worst stuff he could think of so that the media would advertise it for him and he could make some quick $$$.

Apparently it's going to plan thus far, other than being removed from Steam.

Yup, it's like that school shooter game from last year. Talentless hacks trying to make a buck from controversy.

Steam really needs to curate it's library more so that less games like these slip through the cracks, it makes them look bad every time this happens and it allows those developers to get the press attention they crave.
