Its really sounding like the better choice, for many many people. I swear if I was homeless, I would just commit endless crimes to get sent somewhere like this rather than sleeping on the streets hungry. Hell, these prisoners probably have a better life than a lot of workers today.. |

So now that's a bed to sleep on , tv , internet , being fed , visitors , education, and now the keys to their own rooms how sweet like it's an apartment complex with guards walking by
![]() I'm sure there was even talk of prisoners being allowed to vote , but don't think that was granted . |

Seems like an article aimed at riling people with justice hardons tbh.
There's too many purposely unanswered questions in the article which is telling that the story is less sensational than it sees. It's a low risk prison, likely for people who are either vulnerable or are guilty of non-violent crimes who can be rehabilitated. I don't really have a problem with it as I do agree with the Scandinavian philosophy presented in the article, it doesn't matter if you have a laptop in your room or if people knock. You've still ****ed your life up, you're still a prisoner and you've still got to rebuild afterwards. |

My justice hardon is alive and kicking of course!
Basically, if this is being done those in that prison should just be released, and on probation or something, seems utterly pointless. Last edited by Vicky.; 29-03-2019 at 12:55 PM. |

Yes if they are that low risk, they could be doing community service wearing a tag rather than costing the country to keep them?

Open prisons have been similar to this for years, inmates don't get "locked down" as such and have weekend home visits to adjust to being back into regular society.

Maybe for non-violent non-sexual "white collar" crimes this sort of thing is okay, and like Dezzy said a spell in prison will be a stain on their CV forever and they'll still need to rebuild their lives. Also, having slightly nicer cells won't make the prison gang culture and whatnot evaporate

This is my town's prison, and it's ****ing ridiculous.
No end of people who I know got jobs there as staff/guards and most if not all have quit because they're restricted in everything they do, even when it comes to something like restraining violent inmates. They all went on strike and eventually left because it's so daft and the prisoners were running riot and abusing these "rules". Last edited by LaLaLand; 29-03-2019 at 07:16 PM. |

That would take paid work away from non-criminals though.

They're treated better than our own elderly in care. And the lucky of us will be elderly one day. Prisoners should be working for the good of society.
