Exactly, there's an obvious cost to moves like this. The farming industry might not seem very important to people living in cities or in suburbia but it's critical to our nation's food supply and to rural communities in general.

I don't agree with dictating people's diets either and this rush to condemn anyone who dissents from the extreme eco doctrine

If we want a gradual change to improvement then there's a lot you could do short of outright banning something. Eating more British beef would help for a start and reducing reliance on imported meat

yes buying British would do a lot more good, I would like to have a look in Goldsmiths kitchens and see where the produce they use in their restaurants are coming from

that's not what I said at all, i didn't say we should do nothing I stated clearly that it needed to be based an all countries industrial output because thats what makes the biggest difference.

The countries that will suffer will be the ones that already experience severe climate variations as they will get worse ... and anyone close to sea level. It's not dictated by who is carbon neutral and who is not

You could walk into the kitchen of that uni and find 100 items with a larger carbon footprint than 1 beef burger...

This is just a veggie run student union type thing having to much of a say in the day to day running of the uni...

One university not using beef is not going to make a drastic change. So, yes, it remains gradual.
