I agree with this. Him being gay doesn't mean he's duped a woman for 30 years into marrying him whilst knowing full well he's gay. Nor does it mean he didn't/doesn't love her or their relationship wasn't genuine.

I think it's more to do with if you aren't gay you can't VILLAINIZE someone for the choices they make/have made which relate to their coming out. Sentiments relating to his wife "living a lie" as a result of the choices Phil made or the parts of his life/himself that he concealed from her just villainize him as someone who set out to do all this as some sort of premeditated, deliberate plot. Obviously this is not the case.

To feel bad for his wife is totally understandable but to disagree with what he's done or "how long he left it" is really for no-one to say because coming out is incredibly hard and I think those of us who came out earlier in life are EXTREMELY lucky because I can imagine the burden gets worse and worse as you get older and let more and more of your life pass by without properly coming to terms with it.
