What are your thoughts on public displays of affection?

Do you love a smooch on the tube or does the idea of holding hands give you the heebie jeebies?

I think holding hands is nice but I hate public displays of affection. I get embarrassed giving my wife a kiss if people are around and I cant understand those people that full on get down and dirty snogging groping etc when there are people around. I actually find it bad mannered.

Nothing wrong with showing natural affection, I think those that do it for attention are cringe worthy.

General affection/touching/hugging/snuggling up is fine but full-on tongues or heavy groping is a bit much innitt.

Me and a mate were once having a quiet pint and saw a young (Uni-age) couple sat together with her "secretly" wanking him off under a couple of jackets on his lap. We were the only ones in there other than them, it was the middle of the afternoon! You
expect a bit of groping and heavy petting on a late evening but not when you're just in for a burger and chips .

Then one of the barmaids, who has seen us laughing, notices what we're looking at and comes over to politely but firmly tell them to get the **** out . They both looked mortified but they were being so un-subtle .

Done. I think you've missed a trick by encompassing everything under PDA. As an example, I don't want to see anyone swapping spit, but a tender peck, or a comforting hand on the lower back etc, are all cute.

Agree, I reckon that would be the vast majority of people's thinking. Holding hands and wanking someone off in a Scottish bar are leagues a part

I think PDA is fine, I don't have a problem with it. There's a line though, as long as I don't literally see tongues and drool all over the place or inappropriate touching then I don't see it as anything out of the ordinary.

I think stuff like hugging, snuggling, kiss on the lips is fine but smooching is a bit much.

I remember at work once I was serving this couple when I was on the till and they just started smooching in front of me and I didn’t know where to look, it was a bit awkward.

I did the survey but was disappoint there wasn't the option to expand on why you liked or disliked others displaying pdas, some may like it for voyeuristic reasons. Personally I'm a big old romantic so if I see the mood take someone to snog the face off their boy/girlfriend I just think .. nawwww

Not judging people, love is love and we live in a world where we miss a lot of love between people and towards people.
In my personal case, I'm more comfortable with a woman than with a man in public, but I got used to it and now it's not scary to me anymore. Not that it was super scary, but it had more to do with my upbringing and education that lead me to be more timid.
I do enjoy a kiss from my husband or a hand on the shoulder/knees when we're out with friends. And I like doing the same to show all those other tops that he's mine

...really a mixture of what Kizzy and Remy have said...it’s so lovely to see and feel the love and affections felt with others...a small ‘moment’ for others, can lift a day completely in feeling that moment shared with them.../...a hug/a kiss/ a hand held etc, beautiful......but I also appreciate the gorgeousness of private moments as well and the displays for that privacy also because they’re only for those two people...

I hate the word "snog" , and a bit of PDA is ok but as others have mentioned it's awkward when people go full on smooching and groping in front of strangers , when they should get a room for that

Personally I don't show affection in public. I also have no problem seeing people hold hands, hug or kiss... but my pet peeve is the sound of kissing!
