…as I said earlier, it’s actually refreshing and hopeful to see some of the reporting from ‘royal reporters and supporters’ etc on the birth and chosen name being less ‘versus’ and more united going forward….a feeling that little Lilibet may be a hopeful light in any future ‘healing processes’ for all…

It's such a personal family nickname I feel sure that Harry must have spoken to the Queen before they decided. Even though I'm not a fan, it must be a wonderful time for them. There's two years between Archie and Lili, one year between my son and daughter and I hope their little family is as happy as we are.

And, Andrew has probably offered to babysit, but they said via zoom only.

honestly don't understand why people can't be happy for the couple on the birth of their new baby, let it be and move on. I'm sure there will be plenty opportunity to criticize the couple in the future, they ain't going to disappear

Nobody is unhappy about the birth of their new baby, just the name choice and whether Harry had a conversation with his grandmother beforehand about using her personal nickname.
As usual there are conflicting reports

Harry in war of words as Palace source says he didn't consult Queen on baby name

ByAyla Soguksu
09:42, 9 JUN 2021

Palace sources have claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not ask the Queen for permission to name their newborn daughter Lilibet, despite Sussex insiders insisting they did.
Harry, 36, and his 39 year old wife Meghan welcomed their baby girl on Friday 4 June and announced they'd named her Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in tribute of both Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 95, and the late Princess Diana.
A source close to the couple told the BBC that the Duke of Sussex spoke to the Queen before the birth of their second child and "would have mentioned" the name.
However, a Palace source has since claimed this was not what happened and said the couple "never asked" the monarchy…..

Just seen Arista's post too....snap!

Someone at the palace obviously wants to stir it up which is interesting. The only person that could say whether the queen had been asked or not, is the queen. So unless the palace source is completely making it up, which is unlikely, then Harry didn't stick to protocol.

However, now that he has stepped down from royal duties, is their any requirement for him to have asked permission from the queen. He is no longer representing the royal family and therefore, it's none of their business what he calls their child

Yes, I think there is. Its not just any old name, it's a one - off, her personal nickname, used affectionately nowadays only by her late husband. It’s just good manners and respect for a grandmother to ask surely, whether he is representing the family formally or not?

no, it's really nobodies business but Harry and Meghan's. In the same way that it was no-ones business when Bowie named his son Zowie or Frank Zappa named his son Dweazle. People can say oh i wouldnt have named them that or what a lovely name ... but thats the extent of it. It's a childs name. Harry and Meghan are private citizens, not owned by the public or the royal family, and they dont even live in the UK

It wasn't only used by her late husband. Repeating something does not make it true.

The way I see it.
Is the Queen was virtually it seemed likely shamed into making a television address after Princess Diana's death.

Here's another instance now in my view where Her Majesty herself, now needs to state to stop this speculative tripe from unidentified Royal sources and the comments of the gutter trash Daily Mail and others.

For Her Majesty to once and for all, cone out and say is she over the moon her new Great Granddaughter has her nickname as her own name or not.

Like any other Great Grandmother would make known herself and not hide behind the Palace institution allowing the anti Meghan brigade to run riot with even the name of her new Great Granddaughter.
Ridiculous.

Ridiculous.
Honestly, the idea that the 95-year-old queen would be annoyed about her grandson naming his child for her nickname is really bizarre. How petty of a person would you have to be, in your twilight years of life, to resent your own grandchild for naming his daughter for you. Are people actually thinking about what they're saying here? Like ... really? No matter what sort of rift or family argument there's been. You really think an old lady is going to think "They're calling her my nickname, hmph I don't like that, that's MY special thing" and not ... "Oh how lovely."

... ?

Bizarre stuff, that the people so intent on defending The Queen and The Monarchy apparently have such a terribly low opinion of Elizabeth as a human being and grandmother .

You are confusing people’s opinions of what THEY think about it with opinions on what they think the Queen herself may think about it. Not one person has even mentioned whether she would be annoyed or otherwise. A common mistake.
