it's pretty obvious now that these events were a regular occurrence during lockdown

Yeah. They’re investigating 10+ “parties” already from what I’ve seen, with more and more being revealed as time goes by.

Just shocking and shameful.

This one has to be the final straw surely...only two people could meet up outside to make use of the fine weather by their rules

Boris is doing the "can't discuss an ongoing enquiry" to push it down the road. It's obvious that he was there.

However, the only people that can push him out are his own mp's and as the majority are all the same, its not going to change anything no matter how loudly the media and labour huff and puff

It isn't a waste of time pressing him on this to most of the thousands of people who've lost loved ones unnecessarily in this pandemic.
It may well be a waste of time to hardline Con supporters.
However certainly not to most of those people.

He SHOULDN'T need an inquiry by someone who wasn't even at the gathering to say was he there himself or not.
He should answer that HONESTLY,( if he even knows what being honest is), himself and NOW.

How this creep was ever elected leader of the Con party and accepted as PM is beyond me.

Even moreso when he was found to have acted unlawfully by the 2 highest UK courts.
Even misleading the Queen of the legality of that action too.

The man is an utter disgrace to ANY elected office.

Thinking about what was going on at this time we'd had VE Day earlier that month with all the 'socially distanced street parties' which was one of the first times it almost felt like we could socialise again. Lockdown finished the following month so we were near the end at this point. That's why I could sort of forgive it if it was a spontaneous thing, having a couple of drinks outside with colleagues after a long day. But even when lockdown was eased there was a limit to gatherings of 30 people and I don't think that ever increased all year. So to invite 100 people to an organised drinks event does defy belief

what sticks with me is people couldn't visit their loved ones when dying, or go to funerals... he should step down if he had any morals but he doesn't

and can I clarify the above, its not much better now, my friends Dad was in hospital and they had to battle to get his vaccinated Mum into see him, he died the following day without my friend (also vaccinated) not being able to visit, that was October 2021

i could just about condone a working lunch outside, but this is an organised party rewarding people for their "hard work" after the working day. There is no excuse for it.

However, it doesn't make me a staunch tory to highlight that Boris doesn't need to explain anything no matter how much labour want him punished. That's not how the system works. Any penalties dished out if they are found at fault won't be in excess of the spot fines handed out to anyone else. People might say it's double standards etc, but the only way to punish that is at an election
