Not in the same realm of Chelsea's spending over the years, but Utd have thrown huge money at the problem and got them nowhere title of CL contenders.

You have a great manager and an absolute star in Nkunku. you've got a new team thrown together, and a new manager. Of course things don't instantly start working from day one. How did Pep do in his first season at city? He was mocked and laughed at at times, as his team were conceding goals from playing out that the back - now every team does it. Any team that spends, spends, spends will never be a permanent failure, and if it was Spurs (as an example) who had your team, manager, and money, you'd be more objective, and you'd see it. When we were winning the league and Cl, I was busy pointing out it wouldn't last because of not spending, when winning the league in my adult lifetime was not something I ever expected to see - and I was still negative about the future, so my point is this; you'll spend until you get it right, so just enjoy it. it's far worse being a club hovering around top 6 (like us), than a team that has massive highs and massive lows.

Have Man U ever not qualified for europe since fergie? I don't think so. There are different measures of success, most of which are genuinely meaningless and are supporter driven. Man U are still one of the biggest football businesses in the world as are chelsea. Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal don't come close. As long as there is that differential, Chelsea and Man U will always have the best opportunities to succeed on the pitch

Out of curiosity, why don't Liverpool spend more, i mean with a few extra players you could seriously compete against City, and in Europe?!

It's as simple as that. FFP allows owners to pay for stadium improvements without any punishment. FSG have taken loans out to increase the stadium capacity (which only increases their value of the club for a sale), and made the club pay the loans back, so we've had around Ł400m taken out of our transfer budget over last 5-8 years to pay for a bigger stadium for the owners eventual sale price. They also believed they FFP was stricter than it was, so they thought top clubs would only have about Ł50m to spend every season. Here''s the real kicker - without coutinho being sold, we would never have bought VVD and Allisson, so would never have won anything. So even though they've seen how great we can be with a bit of investment, they don't care, and have no interest in spending anything.

I think top 4 every season is more than enough for them. This was easily manageable on a minimal budget for a club our size with klopp in charge, but now Newcastle have come to the party, and Arsenal are back, it's looking like we'll be a top 6 club rather than a top 4 one until they fcuk off, and even then, I expect them to sell to their US friends, who will put the cost of the club back on us to pay for, like Hicks and Gillette, and the glazers, which will screw us even further into the dirt, and will leave us mid table.

Might be a threat for 2 years, but will eventually sell enough good players that they don't replace well enough and will drop. I think they'll be back in the football league within a decade.

And i see Pedro coming good. They have funds now too, mostly thanks to Chelsea being gung ho with signings. I honestly think they'll be fine.

Also Americans expect money back so will always limit what they spend to maximise profits and I also belive FSG have way to many sports teams aswell as planning to buy more to even have enough money for their team which is why a sale is vital but I belive they are waiting to get their maximum profit although John Henry isn't getting any younger and I cant see him wanting to keep the team for much longer so I kinda feel they will sell when Klopp leaves in 3 years so they can let new owners deal with the next steps for the club. Fun fact though we were meant to be what City became but our greedy former owners pulled the plug on a Dubai takeover after agreeing to it, they also did the same when China came calling but Chinese owners have a terrible track record

Gunners defender Jurrien Timber suffered a serious knee injury last weekend on his Premier League debut and will be out for around seven months.

brighton have europe this season and they don't have the squad depth to cope, so, they will be lucky to finish in the top 10

Does anyone know the reasoning for everton fans booing DCL after he had to come off with concussion ? It's a bit of a weird way for fans to behave

I believe the reason is that it's Everton.
