I've lived in Dublin for four years. What happened yesterday was an unspeakable tragedy, and what happened in its aftermath soured the fabric of our nation for the worst, perpetrated by the same mutants who pretend they don't want to live in a ghetto whilst turning it into one. The amount of kids I passed spooked out of their mind, the amount of innocent businesses raided - tax funded vehicles trashed - was a new one for us. So it's all very sad.

Anyway hopefully the people who made it off with a new pair of Nike Air Max gave de foreignerrrrrs what they had coming. It's true that they shouldn't necessarily be associated with the far-right. I'm of the opinion that most of them haven't developed to the level of having any sort of socio-political nous.

Reminds me of those who escalate the BLM protests into riots - they don't care about the apparent "cause", they just want to steal and destroy.

Absolutely. It's embarrassing really. Not a good day to be Irish. Thankfully, I think from what I'm hearing this morning the vast majority of people condemn this behaviour and see it for what it was, a group of opportunistic thugs, using a tragedy for their own gains

The riots are wrong but it takes a riot or several to get the government to remotely acknowledge incidents of innocent people getting attacked

…absolutely…the children of Dublin were terrified yesterday and what they need is reassurance that their Dublin is safe…the images that we saw in the aftermath of this truly awful thing isn’t Dublin, it’s not their legacy…it’s something else entirely….

A Deliveroo driver has claimed he stopped a knifeman who was stabbing children in the street outside a school in Dublin on Thursday.

Caio Benicio, 43, said he jumped off his moped and smashed the attacker to the ground using his helmet, helping to end the bloodbath that left five people injured in Parnell Square East, near the Irish-medium primary school Gaelscoil Cholaiste Mhuire.

The Brazil-born delivery driver said he was among the members of the public who were hailed as heroes after stepping in on Thursday to save the victims injured in the attack, that later sparked violent riots in the Irish capital.

Father-of-two Mr Benicio told his friends of his role in the incident in a voice message he sent to friends on Thursday night, according to Brazilian newspaper O Tempo. He said: “I saw the guy pulling the teacher, picking up the child. I stopped to see what was happening, I thought it was a normal fight.”

However, when the attacker pulled a knife, he said: “Man, I threw the bike on the ground and went after the guy ... I didn't even think about it. I took off my helmet and hit the helmet on his head, which knocked the guy down.”

Speaking to The Journal, he added: “I didn’t even make a decision, it was pure instinct, and it was all over in seconds. He fell to the ground, I didn’t see where [the] knife went, and other people stepped in.”

He said he has been thinking of the five-year-old girl, whom he saw brutally attacked. “I am praying, it's all I am thinking of. I saw her in the ambulance, she looked so vulnerable. I had to go with gardai then. I am waiting for news about her. I am hoping.”

As to the riots, they are more or less the norm, you will get genuine protestors, people out for a fight and mayhem and then the opportunistic looters.
