OJ Simpson has died from cancer at the age of 76, his family has confirmed.

In a statement they said: “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.

“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

“During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”

Simpson was pictured using a cane to walk in January of this year.

The former NFL player was tried and acquitted for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman in 1994. The trial lasted 11 months and captivated the American people.

Both the police car chase he was involved in before his arrest and his trial were broadcast on television.

The once revered athlete was later convicted of kidnapping and robbery in 2008 stemming from an incident in a Las Vegas hotel. He served almost nine years in prison.

But being serious, I don't know 100% if OJ Simpson was innocent or not (as I haven't really read up much of the case) but I will say RIP just on the off chance that he is innocent.

…I don’t have much to say really, I hadn’t known that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer…anyway, any ‘respect’ I may feel is for his children, who have been innocents through this….I read an article just yesterday from Caroline Graham who interviewed OJ back in the day…and she says that after the interview/in a bar…OJ was getting lots of ‘female attention’ and adoration of young females coming up to him and openly expressing that adoration to him…Caroline asked one of the females to the effect of…’does it not make you feel uncomfortable, being around someone who killed two people….’….and the response was…’I don’t care, we all know he did it but he’s OJ Simpson…he’s a legend….’…!!!!!!….no fall from grace mindset whatsoever from some fans even when they themselves are certain in their own minds of his brutal killing of two people…it’s hard for me to fathom that, but it is as it is…

I’m just saying RIP for the sake of whoever loved him. I don’t think many people are actually shedding tears over a mass-murderer but some people’s love has to be more-or-less unconditional.
