Exactly, if that's what's been discovered from something as mainstream as his WhatsApp then there will likely have been a lot, lot more hidden on dodgy "burner phones" and accessed via darkweb. He probably has a 2nd smartphone sitting at the bottom of the Thames.

There was a guy on LBC this morning with Nick and he was babbling on about Huw 'only' having a small amount of pics on his phone when you would normally find 1,000s....

They found them on a WhatsApp group on his phone so I reckon he's had another device with more (like I said, long gone sitting at the bottom of the Thames. Or literally burned.) but he's forgotten to make sure his messaging apps were clear. Probably deleted things not realising they could be recovered.
