That's not really all that surprising as we hit 10% inflation within the last couple of years, and many people's contracted pay rises are linked to the previous year's ROI, which would result in a Ł40k raise at that salary level. I got a roughly 15% increase last year (I genuinely can't remember if it was last year or the year before actually, but anyway) which was an incremental increase + the 10% inflation bump. Granted, I wasn't on Ł430k beforehand .

EX-BBC presenter Huw Edwards has been charged with making indecent images of children.

Veteran telly host Edwards, 62 – who quit the Beeb after 40 years in April – faces three charges over alleged activity between December 2020 and April 2022.

The offences are claimed to be linked to images shared on WhatsApp, police said.

Edwards will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday morning.

The star was arrested last November by London's Met Police - and charged with the offences on Wednesday, June 26.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Huw Edwards, 62, of Southwark, London has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children following a Met Police investigation.

If he's convicted (as he should be) then they'll be able to sack him immediately - employment law means you can't get rid of people while they're just under investigation, just suspend them. Which is also important to maintain for various reasons.
