AND FLOODING RAINS TO A LARGE PORTION OF FLORIDA AND THE
SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES...

Helene is expected to be a major hurricane when it
reaches the Florida Big Bend coast Thursday evening.

Helene is now a category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds near 100 mph, as per the 8 AM update from the NHC.

It is expected to continue to strengthen into a major hurricane before landfall this evening in the Big Bend of Florida.

Images of Chimney Rock, North Carolina, which was devastated by a mega
flood yesterday from Hurricane Helene. The debris left behind by the flood
has filled the valley after sweeping away much of downtown. Even I40 was
completely washed out in western NC into eastern TN. A dam failure near
Newport, TN sent a wall of water down the river. This unprecedented flooding
was from a worst case scenario with a powerful tropical cyclone getting
squeezed by the southern Appalachian mountains

The weather app is probably some american provider like the weather channel or accuweather and both are useless for the UK but with elevation you could get a snow shower say above 300m or so.

For US weather, I use Weather Underground because it's sourced by local weather stations as much as it is sourced by poorly painted and maintained Stevenson Screens probably located in a concrete forest depicting the effects of "climate change".

September 2024 has been the wettest September on record for some counties,
according to provisional Met Office statistics.

Ten English counties experienced their wettest September on record.

For Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire, September 2024 was the wettest calendar
month the counties have experienced, in a series dating back to 1836.

But, although September has been exceptionally wet for southern and
central areas, Scotland and Northern Ireland have been drier than average,
balancing out the rainfall for the UK as a whole to 25% above the long-term
meteorological average.

linger in the south at first. Feeling pleasant in the sunshine with fairly gentle

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Remaining settled on Thursday and Friday with sunny spells and light winds.
Cooler nights, with fog and patchy frost, but warm sunshine by day. Turning

The latest official NHC track for Tropical Storm Milton shows intensification into
a major hurricane by Tuesday with 120 mph max sustained winds at landfall
Wednesday PM! The very storm surge-prone Tampa Bay Region is right in the
center of the cone.
