I don't think it ends hostilities. I think it just delays them. The goal ultimately should be effecting peace in the Middle East as a whole. If they can get things into a better pattern, there's room for more consensus and improved relations, which can help keep bad actors at bay.... that could improve things for these countries longterm.

Unfortunately I think it's quite unlikely he is still alive and that could end the ceasefire
