It's because all the bots that visit the site are overloading it. I've had to ban whole countries before from accessing it.

I've made the forum member viewable only for the moment.

You get bots like Google etc. that visit most pages on a site so they can be added to a search engine index. They are usually responsible, and site owners can tell who it is.

But there are irresponsible bots that make themselves look like a normal web browser. They are mostly from China and the far east. Companies like the TIkTok owner ByteDance. They are probably trying to use web pages, including forum posts, to train AI models, so there has been a big increase in them recently.

It's why you see things like this a lot.
