I dont get involved in politics at all, but on my street on every lamp post the union jack flag has been put up like over a week ago and they still haven't been taken down so im guessing its allowed. There's one right outside my house which is annoying as it looks as if I could have put it there but theres no way of me getting it down. Isnt there some kind of huge protest happening on Saturday? Doesn't sound like thats going to go very well, I imagine lots of fighting will happen?

Two arrested over alleged perjury in Conor McGregor appeal

Two people have been arrested in connection with a garda investigation into alleged perjury during the appeal by Conor McGregor into a civil court finding that he had raped Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in December 2018.

The investigation, which is being carried out by the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, commenced after the matter was referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) by the Court of Appeal.

The man and the woman were arrested in this morning and are being questioned at a Dublin garda station.

They are being detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held for up to 24 hours.

Mr McGregor had initially applied to introduce new evidence last July in his appeal against the finding of the High Court jury that he had raped Ms Hand but unexpectedly withdrew the application just before the hearing was due to start.

Ms Hand's senior counsel John Gordon then proposed the court should refer the matter to the DPP.

He said the court had the power to do that and that it would show the concern it had for the apparent abuse of its own processes.

The three appeal court judges reviewed documentation and referred it to the DPP before gardaí commenced a criminal investigation.

These are the first arrests in this case.
