He spoke on Politcs Live
BBC2HD 11:15PM section. [Norwich South MP Clive Lewis has said he would be prepared to give up his seat to allow Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham to return to Parliament. Burnham has been touted as a potential successor to Keir Starmer as Labour leader, but would be prevented from standing in such a contest as he is not currently a Member of Parliament. Lewis, who became the first Labour MP to call for Starmer to stand aside, told BBC’s Politics Live today] https://labourlist.org/2025/11/clive...ur-leadership/ |

There would have to be a by election. And Burnham would have to win. I'm pretty sure Labour is finished just about everywhere. And anyway, would the people of Norwich South want to vote for someone who's been parachuted in from Manchester purely so he can stand as leader? I don't think so...

It's Charles Clarke's old seat. I didn't share his politics but I believe he was a decent man and I respected him. I strongly believe that the Greens will take the seat next time they get a chance. I'm afraid I have no time for Clive Lewis. I think he's a gobshite.

i will bother about it if he actually wins a seat. As livia says, there is no appetite for the public to suffer even more under labour so i dont think he will stand much of a chance

All hail the Moyesiah

I like Clive, at least he has convictions. Feel like most Labour voters and his constituents would value him as an MP more than they would Burnham

It would be madness at this present time in politics.
I can't see Andy Burnham wanting to head to Norwich. However I'd love to see him as Labour leader definitely. |

However making firm thinking on politics, over three and a half years plus, from the next general election is near meaningless. There's no facts as to how good or bad the economy will be then. How the NHS will be functioning. No real knowledge of what domestic issues will arise between then or actually be by then. Even moreso though, we have no idea what international issues or conflicts will be in place either. |
