Absolutely right.
This I do believe is used at times as a smokescreen to end up hunting and get around the original ban. Despicable vile things on horseback getting pleasure of exhausting and torturing wild animals just trying to survive in their habitats. I'm over the moon the government intends to end this loophole of barbaric thinking. As a child, I was left traumatised seeing the result of an actual hunt which left me campaigning for and always supporting anti hunt organisations. This is good news absolutely, although it will infuriate Nigel Farage who thinks this wrong to ban. Plus that hunting wild animals with dogs etc; should be seen as just a British tradition. Despicable thinking. I still hope more will be done to enforce the original hunting ban too. Plus I'd love to see more looked into as to animal abuse by some farmers and their staff of the animals in their charge until their already short lives are ended in slaughter houses. Animal welfare is often sadly and wrongly bypassed. I'm really glad the government is going on this road again now. |

it's unenforceable. The government can't even protect women and girls from rapists and killers, so how are they going to protect a fox

It's not unenforceable if people can report it once it's banned. Hunt organisations can currently use trail hunting to get around the hunting ban. If trail hunting is banned, then they can no longer legally claim that's all they're doing. Because both hunting and trail hunting will be banned. Animals cannot speak up for themselves, they need humans to do that. Sadly nowhere near enough people do, or even care about animal welfare. |

I'd stop all hunting "for fun". They have bird shoots around here and they're not fussy what they kill.

Not cancelling it from tomorrow. How I wish that could be so, but it will need to go through parliament. It is in my view, an extremely important issue and long overdue not to be addressed. It will be really interesting and revealing too, as to who and what Parties oppose it being banned. |

Part of the animal welfare strategy that they are sneaking out while parliament is in recess and when everyone has stopped paying attention to politics. It won't make them any more popular with farmers and rural communities

I have no problem with professional game-keepers and rangers thinning the proverbial herd, but the gleeful slaughter of animals for fun is abhorrent. At a time when farmers need the public onside they should accept most people think killing animals because it amuses you needs to stop.
As part of this the government plans to end puppy farming. About time. I know a professional breeder and the council are all over him all the time, and he doesn't mind. If people want to breed their pet, unless they're registered breeders, no one should be able to charge more than £50 for a puppy. Too many people can make thousands from a batch of puppies without considering the welfare of the dog at all. It has to stop. People need to buy only from registered breeders or, better still rehome a dog through a charity. |

Good that they are looking at the despicable practices in farming too.
I wasn't expecting that so welcome it 100% This is a really good step forward IF it's put in place and SECURED too. The people of the Country who couldn't give a damn about animal welfare won't agree but that says everything about them really. |
