Nine people have been killed and 25 injured in related shootings at a school and home in western Canada, police say

Seven were fatally wounded at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, while the other two victims were found at the nearby residence - authorities have not given their names or ages

The suspect was also found dead with a self‑inflicted injury, according to officials

Authorities say they know the attacker's identity but have not revealed their name and gender - earlier, a shelter-in-place alert described the suspect as a "female in a dress with brown hair"

Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney says he is "devastated" by "today's horrific shootings", as he suspended a planned trip to Germany

Police have not identified the type of gun used in the attack

Not gonna lie when I was in the car with someone else and it said on the radio this morning the killer was a female in a dress with brown hair the wording sounded odd to me and I said I think trans straight away. It seems to be happening a lot with shooters

It's extremely rare to have a female mass shooter, I think mass shootings are 95/96% male. Statistics and their accuracy are important
