I think the internet is a great way to meet people, and to talk to people who like the same things you do. I'm not sure about proper relationships, but I've met some friends I know online, in person, and we have the same interests and when we met, it wasn't awkward at all and I could be myself around them. We talk online a lot and we're planning to go on a little trip in November.

I think though that the net is not the best way to meet and get to know someone, as you cannot really be sure that the info the other person has given you about themselves is correct. It's a risk you take.

I've had a few friends who have had online relationships. One boy I know went out with a girl and it was an Ł80 train journey just to go and see her, they never met, and broke up after 3 weeks.
My other friend went out with a boy for 4 months, and they never even met :| which was a total waste of both of their times
I think if your having an online relationship which there IS a possible chance you will meet the person, then its fine! (:
I personally could not be in a relationship where i could only see the person once or twice, and there not being any physical contact!

I personally don't understand these online relationships were your never gonna meet, they can't really be called relationships imo but thats just me, i said in a debate the other day about my best friend of the last 9 months i met him online and we see each regularly an text 24 7 when not ringin each other, its perfect xx

lol uh i think it can but id say you'd talk online then have to meet within a couple of weeks. Though it could be dodgy.

I don't think it can work, there are of course exceptions. But I just generally think that online relationships don;t work, I don't the bond between the two people is strong, neither is the love.

I do agree. Although Internet is an amazing tool for shy people to meet someone and to help them with this issue, I still think that you don't have the same feelings and same standards when you meet someone over Internet than in real like the charisma, the speech, the body lannguage...all these things that make me (and other people too) want to talk to someone or going out with her (obviously)
I'm not saying it is fake to meet someone over Internet because it works and they are satisfied with it but I couldn't, or only for a sex meeting (you don't need to know the girl that much).

So yeah, I keep it real concerning the relationships.

Well I met a very close friend on a the Hearts FC forum and we ended up speaking on MSN and chatting etc. I met her at the football one day and we have been best mates ever since - that was 4 years ago.

And my boyfriend who I live with now I met online, we only met there, didnt speak online, but I met up with him about a month after texting and speaking on the phone everyday and then 4 months later we got a flat together and have been together ever since.

I think it will only work if you actually meet with the people in real life. I dont believe you could have a full relationship purely online, you need physical attention and love.

I am so happy with Matt and people always are like oh how did you meet and at first we were kinda embarrassed about it but we love each other now and always will

Like DT said, Red and I met on TiBB and now live life as a happy and contented family. It took a while to settle into life together and we had a pretty crap couple of years to struggle through. It got a little shaky now and then but what doesnt break you makes you stronger. We now live in a beautiful house with our wonderful children and are very happy.

I went out with someone over the internet a few years ago and we talk occasionally.
and a guy i fancied for AGES on the internet is moving to england in like a month and I was completley obsessed with him so it'd be actually weird to meet him .. :P [i sound like a proper stalker now]
