Thats true, but the section should not be visible to guests so when they join they have no idea about the section, then when you sign up. You shouldn't be able to change your age, and you can only get in the section once your age is 18.
If people create new accounts then they will get banned for having multiple accounts. And then if they get around with it, its their own fault if they see explicit things!
But people don't have to state their age to join, it's optional. And what about poeple who don't want persoanl details like their age plastered across a forum?
Maybe it could be kept private from the rest of the forum.

In this day and age only people over 18 will be a, too old to have gotten one as in there tearaway teen years they had'nt been invented.. or b, would be to old and ashamed to admit to it in public.

Only those under 18 would find it un cool to say no

Well that will take a bit of thinking to get around... maybe a private forum where you need to contact a member of staff. Then a password is given, or special rights?

18+ is stupid, seeing as the main topics in question are about sex, which is legal at 16..

Right... I am only saying 18+ because thats the age of consent for watching porn and stuff. Just being safe, but I am sure we could stretch too a 16+. But it would be what the moderators felt was needed.

All this would help the forum go down in threads that people under this age should not be reading.

Yes but ultimately if you were never to post in there/post in there it would give people an indicationd of your age.

A froum should be a place where you can post your opinions anonomusly and debate without anyone having to know anything about you. I'm not saying I don't want anyone to know anything about, but that is one of the properties of a forum.

That defeats the point, I am doing this to prevent young eyes seeing them. It would never go below 16, and I doubt below 18. You are all onl calling it stupid because you are below 18.

It's worth pointing out that internet forums are not made for children and Big Brother is a program which is aired after the watershed and often contains sexually explicit content.

If parents don't want their kids exposed to explicit content or conversations, then perhpas they should keep a closer eye on what their kids do on the net.

Gah I knew all these excuses would come from the younger members, It was just an idea... it might never happen. So no one will win, I am sure you will get over it if you can't see one little section. The section might never even kick off you never know.
I was just trying to stop younger people seeing things we keep posting about, I mean when we have threads about vagina's and penis' it is not suitable. But whatever, if you want young kids seeing that then fine.

Or do something better, raise the age level to 16+, lets go extreme.

I don't see how it's the admins responsibilites what these young eyes see.

What would be more suitable would be if an admin were to notice a thread that they deemed too mature, they could make it so that you would have to verify you were of a certain age before going into the thread.

I think its a good idea, I know I'm 16 but it really doesn't bother me if there's a 18+ section/subforum. I think it would be good and would protect the younger members on here from some of the stuff that people post.

maybe rather than a secret area apart from raising the sign up age putting tibb as a forum where you have to be a signed up and signed in member rather than availiable for guests to read as well

I'm not making excuses I'm just looking at this from all angle, looking at which option would affect the forum best.

To be honest I don't personally really care that much, I'm just debating for the sake of the forum.

Hardly, your talking about a whole new sub forum exclusive to over 18. Mine is simply a stamp mods could put over it, and would avoid the clique problem.

Ok well there wouldn't be a clique, I dont see the obsession with Cliques =/. Also having a thread where only certain people can talk in is basically the same as having a small section where only certain people can talk in. We could even tie them both together and have the section then if there was a too mature thread posted in a normal section its moved.
I am just saying its an idea, and would be fun for us older members that want to talk about older things.

I like the idea, especially for younger members who aren't mature enough or just too young to see some of the stuff posted on here.

Where as I'd prefer 16+, I agree with Fom that 18 is the age of watching/buying porn or what ever. Is the forum really allowed to do stuff like that for 16/17 year olds without parental consent or something?
