Default Is Britain\'s Got Talent 5 times better than Big Brother?

On the BB10 Ratings Thread, Spike said Britain's Got Talent got 15 million people yesterday.

Big Brother gets 3 million.

So why do 5 times more people watch BGT compared to BB? Is it really 5 times better than BB?

its because big brother is on every night for 3 months BGT is on every night for a week, and BGT is a family show, so more families watch it.

But for Celeb BB, it was on for about 3 weeks. And it's still about 5 times less than BGT.

Is BGT a much much much much much better show?

hell to the no Big Bro beats sex, but BGT is just one of those shows that are ABSOLUTELY HUGE. If Simon Cowell makes it, its very big, and also the family show thing.

Taking the last 2 years of BB into account, yes, BGT is 5 times better.

But you've got to remember this BGT's 3rd year. While This is big brother's 10th series.
So of course people are going to watch the fresher show.

This is BGT peak so compared to Big Brothers peak (BB3) they aren't far off each other
They have a different audience and there is more of a regular family audience watching TV than a 16-34 audience
BGT is an awful show and is easily 5 times worse than Big Brother but sometimes ratings don't reflect that. We have to remember Big Brother is old now and for many people its run its course whereas BGT isn't near that time of its lifespan just yet

but BB in its 3rd series averaged about 5.5 million. That's still about 3 times less than BGT.

That's bad is it not?

I think we should take major BB shows when comparing ratings
Its not fair to compare a week 4 Monday against a semi final with Susan Boyle.
Big Brother runs longer and you wont get 12million+ tuning into a 100 episodes over any series whether it be Big Brother of BGT
BGT is billed as event TV, every episode is an event because something major happens and thats not the same for Big Brother, only evictions, launch nights and finale nights can be compared to BGT. And as I have said before considering the target audience for both shows Big Brother isn't and wasn't doing badly

I suppose you could see it like that but also BGT is a family programe.

I doubt very many 7 year olds will want to watch big brother.

BB is also on Channel 4, BGT is on ITV1. The highest rating Channel 4 has ever had is 10m, ITV gets that frequently.

3m is an average, 15m is a peak.

At its peak, Big Brother had the capability to treble the slot average for Channel 4; BGT does the same for ITV. Now BB only doubles it but once BGT has done over 700 shows you'd probably expect a similar decline.

HAHAHAHA
Dont make me laugh, Britains got talent is accually very unpopular yet Pers Morgan seems to make it out like its 10 times better than BB.

Britains got talent is only watched by ENGLAND really...
Thats why they have the flags all over the show which is why I cant stand looken at a union jack flag!

Scotland,Ireland and Whales and England all watch Big Brother and so do people around the world watch our version on the computer.
So if you add all the BB Hype together,, You would see BGT Has nothing compared to Big Brother.

BGT appeals to more people due to the format, acts etc.
It is kinda' overrated though.
But like people have said; It is a younger, fresher show which will pull in a massive audience.
Big Brother is for a specific audience, BGT is for everyone.

When was the last time a housemates best bits got 100m hits on Youtube? To say BGT is less popular than BB is crazy and you're deluded.

All of the wannabes who have been in the big brother house over the years have given big brother a bad rep.

When big brother first started it was pretty much normal average people who were entering the house. Now every year the houe is full of fame hungry weirdos who will do anything to become famous and play up to the camera more and more. These people are the reasons why big brother becomes less and less popular every year. Most years the house is full of assholes, why would people want to watch a housefull of assholes everynight.

Are you stupid?

X Factor is only done in UK
BGT Is only in the UK

Americas got Talent is what america watches
American Idol is what america watches

BIG BROTHER On the other hand is watched by Young and old people, It is the biggest reality show going, It has versions in nearlly every country!
So how the hell is it only watched in the UK And X Factor and BGT Are watched in America?

The only reason the americans even know who Susan Boyle is is because of Youtube!

Big Brother IS And ALWAYS Will be the daddy of reality TV end off.

And even BB UK Is watched in America, because the americans and Austrillians watch our version on the net.

They talk about it on Youtube and discuss what happened on the highlight shows even though they arent even in the UK.

We get America's Got Talent and American Idol- both rate quite well for ITV2. And people watch our versions around the world too, you must be living under a rock if you haven't seen that this week.

Big Brother is a worldwide success but here we're talking exclusively about Big Brother UK and Britain's Got Talent. Britain's Got Talent is far more popular. And even around the world Talent outrates Big Brother in other countries.

Big Brother is quite a low key affair in America.

The union jack is NOT the English flag , it is the flag of the United Kingdom. The saint George's cross is the English flag and even if BGT was only watched in England, it would still get more viewers than any show watched by everyone in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland put together.

What a silly post.

There are a lot of foreign BBUK fans (the site got 8 million individual vistors last year or the year before that's almost thrice as many as people who watch) but nowhere near enough to equal BGT's popularity.
