I don't really like British comedies really. The modern day ones I think have been poor. I really didn't get how everybody loved Four Weddings and Notting Hill. They did nothing for me!!!
I suppose if I had to pick one it would be The Full Monty. It warms the cockles.. Especially when the big guy is in the shed wrapping himself in cling film trying to get thin while eating a Mars Bar. My kind of weight loss!!

Default Ealing Comedies

I LOVE the EAling comedies. I've got a few on video and love 'em 2 bits. - Whisky Galore, The lavender hill mob, Ladykiller and Passport to Pimlico.

Ashamed to say that I also have a weakness for the old films of Norman Wisdom and George Formby!!!!!!!!

Twelve Angry Men

Really Sticks? I'd have put you down for Death takes a Holiday or Heaven can wait.

Hang on, no, they are both essentially optimistic and life affirming..........................

I think your favourite film just might be Apocalypse Now?????????

The Forbin Project is a good film. There the baddies are two super computers in control of Soviet and American nuclear missiles. In the end they subjugate humanity and successfully demand that they are worshipped as gods.

Evil wins again, just like real life

The King and I was the best musical ever but I did like Little Shop of Horrors. Great fun. The Rocky Horror Music Show was brilliant too.

Welcome to the forum, tiptop.

Hope you enjoy posting here.

Now then...
All Ealing Comedies that have been mentioned.
Field of Dreams
Notting hill
Four Weddings
Local Hero
Electric Dreams [anyone remeber that?]
Chariots of Fire
Bugsy Malone
High Society[ and it's forrunner The Philadelphia Strory]
Witness
Shawshank Redaeption
The Green Mile

I'm sorry to go on you did ask for favourites but I LOVE them all.

WHO CAN CHOOSE FROM SUCH PLEASURES? not me

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

I have to admit to going to a special screening of it many moons ago, where everyone dressed the part! It was an absolute scream

I have always been very envious of Frank's make up in the film, it was totally awesome!

His legs were pretty good as well!

I've only just discovered this thread but thought I'd add my thoughts. Lots already mentioned - did anyone else see Dirty Dancing when it was reshown recently? I love that. Also Brief Encounter and Its a Wonderful Life. But my all time favourite has to be Casablanca - have watched it so many times I know most of the script - As far as I am concerned You can play it again Sam any time you like.

Of recent films I love While You Were Sleeping - got nothing to do the fact that I really like Bill Pullman = but what a lovely love story
