Some people are just solitary people. Some people don't want to endlessly socialise... they prefer to be alone for a good part of the time. People should be allowed to do what they want! I'm not the world's most gregarious person and I would hate to be dragged into social situations where I don't want to be simply because someone like Bea thinks it would be good for me. She doesn't have all the answers.

I really object to this and being so closed she is not as intelligent as I once thought she was, although I do accept she has raised the level of conversation since her arrival. He conversation now resemble lectures sometimes. Marcus was very good during that chat btw, I argued reasonably, calmly and intelligently. Charlie could not cope with the conversation at all and retired to bed
The thing is, despite Marcus tending to be right more often, and perhaps being as/more intelligent than Bea, he's also succumbing to her powers. He's appeasing her somewhat in these discussions and doesn't stamp his dominance all over it, like he has done with others. There's still a significant degree of just entertaining Bea, pleasing her and somewhat agreeing with her. She has the power over the guys, in various ways.

She then retreated to bed and had Freddie kissing her a*se and trying to prove himself as a great, misunderstood, unlusting type of guy. But she still asserted her power without due consideration; telling him off and to shut up and fall asleep!

I just found it outstanding that she considers science fiction and scientific technology in general to be and irrelevant waste of time which pulls away from reality and social structure and is saying this while in the Big Brother (which is the epitome of a artificial science fiction style environment) house competing for a monetary prize. She never said she would be donating this money to any type of greater good or charity...
Does she not realize the technology in the house that allows people to watch and vote is the reason why there is a 100 000 pound prize to compete for?
Does she not realize there are thousands of people on online forums right now discussing and debating the very show she is competing in? Is that not some type of social unity being created by technology?
I wonder if she realized how hypocritical her comments came across as...

exactly! she has a very narrow and simplistic view of some things. Not as clever as she thinks she is. I really did like her initially you know, but have met her type before ...

Bea is too good a person for most people to accept it I find. Just because you may not lead a life with a halo around your head doesnt mean other people dont. Jealousy is a terrible thing in society. Its ashame this girl is going to be boo'd out of the house and braught down to a level of the "general" public.

Yes, she's not as clever or as often correct as she thinks she is.

She does have flaws in her arguments and misses key things. Like WHY these nerds/loners/geeks even END UP in the situations they are in ...

Her views and thought patterns are sometimes narrow and too simplistic.

her no man on the moon stance is just based on hearing a few unusual facts about the moon landing which sound plausible and simply believing it to the detriment of the ONE huge glaring fact.

the fact that no one can keep a secret, least of all people who work for companies and authorities. for her theory to be right it would rely on so many frail human beings all keeping stum. it is preposterous and far more far fetched than what she is arguing against.

It is hard enough for a murderer to hold his tongue.

Her credibility was undermined to the point of making the rest of the chat a waste of breath.

Jealous of what? You don't personally know anyone on this forum so I don't see how you could judge whether any of us would be jealous of anyone.

I don't often agree with you IOW... but I do on this count. People who deny the moon landings are just tiresome. Unless they're called Billy-Bob and live in a trailer in Nevada... then they're just funny. Furthermore, science fiction has often turned into science fact, as Arthur C Clarke pointed out. And he knew a thing or two... a bit more than Bea anyway.

She doesn't lead a life with a halo around her head though. Infact it's quite the opposite. She couldn't even see that she's part of the crowd who contribute to shutting off/aiding the isolation of these geeks/loners/nerds, whom she criticizes and ridicules.

She also isn't as honest, open and daring like she thinks she is. Prime example: Bi*ching about David in the kitchen, then the time he races into the kitchen by chance, she is rattled and retorts to asking how he's doing, with a very worried look on her face.

Her treatment of Freddie hasn't shown much tact for his loyalty to her as a friend, although he is in the wrong with regards to certain actions of his.

The trouble with Bea is she is too up herself. Sometimes it is nice to have a break in deep, meaningful conversations for a bit of light hearted banter or trivia! It's the communicating that is important, not necessarily what is being communicated.
I am damn sure if Bea spoke to me, I would be bored out of my head in minutes, simply because she is so conceited.
