The theme tune was great.

Possibly only surpassed in excellence by Hawaii Five-O.

From the same era as Rhubarb and Custard...

I saw an add today that used the Hector's House characters.

I used to love Hector's House.

No-one's mentioned my favourite programme when I was VERY young . . . The Woodentops!

I loved Spotty Dog!

I also adored 'Tales of the Riverbank' with Hammy Hamster.

When I was little (so long ago unfortunately)

Monday was Story Book
Tuesday was Andy Pandy
Wednesday was Bill and Ben
Thursday was Rag, Tag and Bobtail
and
Friday - my favourite - The Wooden Top with the biggest spotty dog in the world. I loved that and insisted we had a dalmation which we actually called 'Spot'.

Does anyone remember Hectors House, I love that advert that comes on now and then for that banking thing there advertising, they should bring an up to date version of that back on. The last time it was on was in the 70's, I used to remember watching it in the school holidays.

Talking of old children's TV favourites, look who's making a comeback now!

Quote:
Story from Ananova
Children's puppet Muffin the Mule is to return to the BBC after nearly 50 years.

An updated version of the animated series has been bought by the corporation and will be shown in the next three years. The piebald mule, with strings attached, was first shown on the BBC in 1946.

A BBC spokesman told Teletext: "The show is being brought up to date, Muffin will now be living on a town farm rather than dancing on top of a piano. He will help animals solve problems."

In the new series Muffin will be reunited with pals Oswald the ostrich, Peregrine penguin, Monty monkey, Louise lamb and kittens Prudence and Primrose.

His last appearance with Annette - sister of Sir John Mills - came in 1955, just days before she died.

Of course, I'm FAR too young to remember this first time round.

Kaz, I have to admit I was given a Muffin the mule string puppet for my 5th birthday...... I promptly tied it to my dad's bicycle wheels and he rode off in the morning without noticing it. It tangled round the chain, he fell off and Muffin had to be surgically removed from the spokes with scissors!

I got a glove puppet of Sooty for my 6th birthday, cut all his hair off and made him into Sooty the Bald.......

Not to mention the brm brm amblance with the real sirens which my dad was forced to remove after about 24 hrs.

It's a wonder I turned into such a well balanced woman...........

Oh,yes - I remember The White Horses very well, Steve.

I used to love watching it during school summer holidays, when it was on every weekday morning. I SO wanted to be Julia!

The theme tune was wonderful - I enjoyed listening to it again. Thanks for the link.

On white horses
Snowy white horses
Let me ride away

They don't make 'em like that any more.
