Sources say that the broadcaster wants to use his swan song edition as an opportunity to speak publicly about 2008's 'Manuelgate' scandal, which was sparked when he and Brand left offensive messages on Andrew Sachs's answerphone during a Radio 2 programme.

One insider told The Sun: "Jonathan and Russell are great friends but they've never really discussed what happened in public. So Jonathan thought that it was right that now the dust has settled he should be allowed to have Russell on and talk about Sachsgate with him."

Another told the Daily Mail: "You can imagine that Jonathan and Russell will be in high spirits - it will definitely be an interview not to be missed. It is surely Jonathan's way of putting two fingers up to the BBC."

However, a BBC source said that the move had not yet been approved by Ross's bosses, explaining: "The guests have not been booked. As always, we will have final say on the bookings."

Ross will leave the corporation when his current contract expires in July. Along with his chatshow, the 49-year-old has his own Radio 2 slot and fronts the BBC's film reviews programme.

I think he should just drop it now. It went on way too long as it is. To carry it on and he have to have the last say is bordering on disrespectful and he's done enough of that

I think he should just dissapear out of the public eye forever but unfortunately I doubt that will happen :'(
But nah seriously, they should just let it drop. It's over now, why bring it back up again?

Just seems childish now to me. Like "I'm speaking last, ner ner ner ner ner". I used to really enjoy Ross' humour. Now I find him petty

I think both are hilarious, on their own and even more so together.

I don't see what's wrong with it to be fair, but maybe that's just me being a little biased.

Brands great. Just totally gone off Ross who I used to find hilarious. He's changed. Not since the 'scandal' (stupid as that itself was - totally blown out of proportion) but in the last two or three years his hearts not been in TV presenting

I see what you mean actually, he does seem a bit fed up which is a shame, but I do still like him.

Disaster waiting to happen. They will say what the hell they want. Won't be sorry for their actions. Ross won't give a rats arse because it is the last show anyways!!

Same here. Him and Brand are usually witty and Ross is a good interviewer. The Sach's phone call was below the belt and a mistake! but I do agree it would be childish them bringing it up again!! it will do more harm than good if they say something stupid again..

Not a fan of Ross or Brand by any stretch, but I think they should just decide "***** the censors" and say everything that's on their mind in the final show. I think I'd enjoy that.
