Race is as usual being used wrongly. If Grace has an anti colour thing going on then she is being racist. The term "******" or "wigger", can be both a term of endearment and a slur. It depends how it's used, by and too whom it's being directed at.
If we remember there is only the human race on Earth (except New York taxi drivers), it comes down to a prejudicial viewpoint based on colour of the skin. |

Everyone, stop being so PC. A wigger is a white person trying to fit in with black culture. That is all. There's nothing racist about it. The way it is meant as an insult/derrogatory term is because someone is trying to be something they arent - it's not meant in a way thats slating to black people. |

Clearly some people on this forum find the word w*gger offensive... I myself feel it is racist. Perhaps you have never been picked on for something someone else deems as a "fault", it's not very nice. I can't stand people telling me what I can and cannot be and labelling me with whatever label. People taking liberties with foolish words like w*gger, it's quite frankly shocking, to think that people think they can use language like this without hurting people, and potentially getting very badly hurt themselves. To anybody using language like this, .....WAKE UP, it's OFFENSIVE, some people DO NOT LIKE IT, and they MAY BEAT YOU SENSELESS FOR SAYING IT, and many including myself, would not stop them from doing this to you, because you'd deserve it. Oh yes and if you think it's political correctness that's "trying to make" calling people names, wrong, ...think again. You just think how p.c. the punch in the face that you recieve in exchange for your insult, is. hmm.... not very p.c. after all eh? Don't anger people unless you're willing to deal with the consequences. It really is common sense, which some of you seem to be badly lacking, especially since you're old enough to operate a computer and find this forum! Calling people names, it's not the way forward... is it? |

Words mean nothing until they are used in context. If people percieve a word as racist, then it is.
If people started using the word "carrot" as a perjorative against a race, then it could become a bad word in some contexts. Where I grew up, "wigger" was indeed a racist term, because it was generally used by people who thought white people shouldn't adopt so-called "black" styles of dress and speech. You might not personally think it's a racist term, but I'd be damn sure you know who you're talking to before using it, because a lot of people are going to have a lower opinion of you if they hear a word like that. You're best off avoiding it altogether. For that matter, why would you even feel the need to use a word that meant someone was acting "black" or whatever? Maybe it's better to have a think about why that bothers you in the first place. |

It's just racist no matter who uses it.
It is just used in ignorance, and to copy celebs and be "cool". It is not reclaiming it and taking it's power away it is propagating it and spreading it. |

Oh my god.....I hate the world today. The few Black people that do, shouldn't call each other the N word as it encourages others to use it. Political Correctness has gotten things out of hand....it's stupid. All of that aside, Grace was wrong according to the outside world. But it is so hard now-a-days to tell if something is acceptable. Some people call eachother the W word all of the time, others are offended by it. Some people likewise call each other the N word, others are offended. How do you judge it??? I find alot of things offensive that are now socially acceptable, yet I do not find children's ryhmes like baa baa black sheep and humpty dumpty offensive when the government seem to think that they should be banned. It is all so damn mixed up!!!If only none of these labels were used anymore........!!! Even if Grace wasn't deemed racist by some, what she said was still hurtful and meant maliciously so either way it can't be right??? Can it???

White people can act and live black culture if they wish. I'ev had friends who did just that. Wigger is just a descriptive term. It's not derogatary. |

As I said in my last post, I've had white friends who acted 'black', simply becuase they adored the culture. Why should any descriptive word, whether that be "wigger", "carrot" or whatever, be automatically deemed a derogatory term?? |

lol no offence to you, and please do not take this the wrong way, but I always feel amused at the fact that when people say something about a taboo subject they always try to reinforce the fact that they aren't being racist/prejudice/sexist by saying that they have friends that are black/gay/female/male/lesbian/asian etc

lol ok but saying if you were racist you wouldn't have black friends is wrong in itself. Using your black friends as proof that you are not a racist. hmm.
Oh and someone here with a brain??? Unsure who you are referring to as I cannot see one!! |
