Default Why I think he should win.

Ok for entertainment value I would love Brian to win but I thought about this long and hard last night.

Nick was the ground breaker in many ways and for some he made Big Brother what it is today.

All his lying, scheming an machiavellian whisperings, showed a housemate trying to ensure his own place in the house whilst casting doubt against others. His only mistake was perhaps to be too obvious about it and not realising that his housemates were not on the same page. He was ahead of his time for game playing and did make it all must see tv for us all.

At the start of that summer I was glued to the set, I drew the line at watching the live feed at night because I didnt want to become addicted , I remember the day he got found out like it was yesterday, my mother rang me at work and told me that it had made the news and that there was a special programme on that night going through the events.

I have to admit seing someone get his comeuppance was great telly and at the back of my mind I kept thinking surely they will all realise that what he was doing was just trying to win. Ok not very well, all that guff about being in the army was shown up to be a complete and utter fabrication the first time he attempted the assault course! However I did feel people were overacting at the time.

As he himself says, had this happened in America they would have applauded his inginuity and guile.

I think the months of villification in the press and the nick name "nasty Nick" initially made it impossible for him to find work unless he used his notoriety.

I just think there would be some kind of karma and ironic closure if he should win as he was the first and only one to be kicked out for "playing the game".

Just a few ramblings from a fevered brain (got summer flu)

There would be a certain satisfaction about it.

I would love it if he won but I would settle for top 5. I really feel like he deserves this after years of being called nasty Nick when he acctually seems like a nice normal bloke with a good sense of humour. I'm amazed that he didn't turn into a wreck after the hatred he experienced during BB1.

It would be great if he won but a top 5 spot would suit me too really I just want a worthy memorable winner for the final BB.

Nick was publicly villified for simply playing the game on a programme that he had correctly identified as a Game Show! Unlike Nadia and her histrionic assertions that BB ruined her life, BB actually DID ruin his for a long time. Nick generated enormous publicity and interest in the show and he was a major reason why people kept watching after series 1. As the OP has pointed out, he was the one who defined BB as a game show and introduced the concept of game plans.

Nick was evicted first time round to horrendous booing and a media crucifixion - it hampered his career plans for many years and dented his self confidence. He was literally a social pariah. By coming on UBB I believe he was trying to put some ghosts to rest and I think he has done that.

I am delighted he has reached the final and if he were to win it really would be poetic justice, but knowing the GBP they will probably vote for one of the one trick ponies, Brian, Chantelle or Nikki.

BUT imagine if Nick did win - what a fantastic turn around that would be, and something no-one would ever forget. A truly fitting end to BB.

Great post and a good read. While I see your points and back in the day If it weren't for him in BB1, I'd have doubts about there ever being a BB2 so for that reason I really wanted him to make the final. Seeing him on lf last night I think it meant so much to him, a bit of redemption. But I think that is enough for him now. He is and will always be a BB legend but in this series he hasn't cut it in the entertainment stakes and for that reason I think that either Brian, Nikki or Victor should win. All three are BB legends and have all done the proper stint in a BB series ensuring, in my eyes that what we saw was their personality and not an act. They have in UBB not disappointed and remained entertaining and lovable characters (personally not a Nikki fan but can see why others may like her)

Yes. I agree with your paragraph.

I do think Victor, Nikki and Brian have been a bit more entertaining than Nick. However we have not exactly had a string of entertaining winners have we?

Anyway any of them 4 deserve to win.

Nick winning would be BB going round the full circle and poetic justice.

However whatever position "Nasty" Nick Bateman comes in.. I hope he gets cheered and will do a lot for his confidence!

I really don't think any of them will get booed at this stage now and none of them are deserving of boos either.

My opinion is that Chantelle, Ulrika and Preston shouldn't come any where near the top and I believe them or any other contestant who was in celeb BB should not even have been in the series

I would love to see Nick win but I am realistic enough to realise he won't. At the start I just wanted him to reach the final, which is vindication in itself, but having had to endure Preston, Ulrika and Chantelle for over two weeks, I really would love it if he finished above them. The mere fact that it irritates the hell out of that minger Davina that he outstayed Michelle and Vanessa, is a bonus. However, I now don't want him to finish in last place, 4th or 5th at least would be great so I will be slinging several votes his way.

You could say that Nick has made the ultimate Big Brother journey - from the most hated and villified pantomime villain of a HM who was jeered and booed in BB1 to the rehabilitated, normal, gently humorous and decent Mr Nice Guy HM who will hopefully be evicted to deafening cheers tomorrow night, whatever place he finishes in.

Please pledge at least one vote to Nick in deference to his contribution to the Big Brother Story over the past 11 years.

In so many ways it would be the greatest ending ever if Nick won this. It would be such a fitting 'full circle' and seeing 'justice served' after all.

Some don't remember this but Nick is pretty much what made Big Brother... and reality programs in general, what we see today. He ought to be thanked by about a billion people,
but,
Most don't know he was actually kicked and nearly had to go into hiding and it was a serious thing - his life was nearly ruined.
For what would have been 'heroic' just a season or two later.
He was the inspiration and model for Dr. Will, Richard Hatch, Vic and dozens of others who not only WON but cashed in on fame for it,
yet,
Nick was really the original and was never allowed to finish his own series.

This isn't a real season and it doesn't really matter if Ulrika or Brian or anyone else really 'wins' over another,
but,
The one that would be so ironic, so perfectly fitting, such a great conclusion would be seeing Nasty Nick get that acknowledgment in the end.
And a great way for fans of all seasons to give a little thanks to the guy who sparked all we loved after that.

Survivor aired 2 months before Big Brother 2000. Richard Hatch is the model and inspiration. Just so we don't get it twisted...

But I agree Nick is integral to the success and trajectory of BB, the past 3 weeks were basically nothing, so why not vote for who means the most to the series?

I agree that Nick brought the show to the fore in series 1.... he obviously is not a nasty person... he just played a game and was vilified for it.
He will be cheered tomorrow without a doubt.
However he has bought little else to the show... he is a nervy person with little personality. He has found his way off the back of others. He cheated and found notoriety for it... he has now put that to bed.He has hooked up with Victor on this show and without Victor he would have had no camera time.

He has had closure and will be cheered but IMO he is no worthy winner...

It would certainly be very ironic, but I don't think it'll happen.

Wow, that is a first but you are actually correct on that and so it is. I was moving back and forth the pond and actually got that mixed up. (it was survivor UK or whatever it was called I watched first).

and even weirder is that you finally agree with me on something. It's not really important so much anyone wins for the 3 week 'cameos' so my thinking is to vote for Nick.
Heck.. i think even the other HMs will appreciate that too.
It really does make a clever and fun ending to wrap everything up full-circle.

We also agree on Ben, we're just bad on politics, sex, and religion. But who isn't?

I go across the pond all the time myself and get my reality shows mixed up too. Technically BBUSA was first, but I pretend BBUSA 1 didn't happen.

Nick is a true BB legend.
If BB really has gone off our screens forever,in twenty/thirty years time not many HM's will be remembered but Nick will be.

Nick is a true BB legend.
If BB really has gone off our screens forever,in twenty/thirty years time not many HM's will be remembered but Nick will be.
He made the news in foreign countries lol.. i mean that is amazing. Psychologists discussed it in US newspapers.
Nasty is truly a legend.
... and it turns out a really nice guy after all.
