Its confusing, some people use it in a sense of completely ruining a song, and others completely smashing it.

How would you use the term to 'kill' a song?

Ruining it for me, because like, killing it means death which isnt good :S

On another forum Ive just joined they all say kill/slay a song meaning in a good way
