So we have two people that would rather tell us they have lumps on a forum rather than going to a doctor? What is the world coming to?

I think fear of finding out that your worst thoughts are true is extremely common. The reason so many cancer victims die is because they put off checking up on the symptons for too long.
Some people just fear the doctors full stop. Plus these symptons often involve very private parts of the body. Nobody likes the idea of having their anus probed for suspected bowel cancer, for example. Nobody should be judged on this matter. |

True but you may have quoted from a post that was offensive, baiting or unreasonable, its easier to remove a group of posts in a thread rather than go in and edit all the posts.

Thankyou. It was for this reason. There were so many posts, I just wanted them gone to stop this thread spiralling away from the subject.

I've not been melodramatic once.. I have made a few points regarding the thread subject, that is all.
My final words on the subject; ITILYT & Thomas (and anyone else) don't let worry or fear stop you from getting yourself checked. It is very very likely nothing serious, but I promise you, you will feel like a weight has been lifted if you get it seen to.

Thats happened to me once or twice too. I just put it down to overly sensitive staff, or the fact I am an insensitive twat that easily rubs people up the wrong way, sometimes deliberately.
Me neither! |

I don't think anyone is pointing the finger as to who did it. Different mods will have different tolerences. It's just frustrating sometimes for we 'users' when we might just want to get it all out. As I said it's an emotive subject for me and I'm disappointed I got infracted for a view but I accept it

I found a lump on my testicles when I was 17, it was very scary and I found it just before I went on a school trip to London; I'd never made an appointment with a doctor by myself before so I wasn't really sure what to do - the practice was closed (this was in the evening) so I made an appointment via their website - embarrassingly I just typed out the details of my problem into the box thinking it would be sent to a doctor and I would get a reply; in fact it went to the admin staff so I spilled my guts to them - I can laugh about it now, but that made me feel even more embarrassed about going to the doctor over such a sensitive issue. I couldn't get an appointment sorted before I went on the school trip so arranged it for after I came back; and then (I'm still angry about this) they called my house to remind me of my appointment a few days beforehand - obviously I wasn't there so my mum asked if she could take a message and then spent days worrying about what was wrong with me, so when my dad came to pick me up from the trip he told me that the doctor had called about the appointment and asked me what was wrong...
I've never been one to have discussions like that with my parents (I never even got the talk about the birds and the bees from them) so I was absolutely mortified that they knew I was going to the doctor, but obviously had to tell them what the reason was to stop them fearing the absolute worst... In the end, I went to the doctor (after panicking about the appointment and the lump for about a fortnight) and found the whole experience extremely embarrassing, but the lump turned out to be a sebaceous cyst and it went away of its own accord. Moral of the story: no matter how embarrassing the thought of going to the doctor is; it's always better to be safe than sorry.

sigh. Thanks everyone. The doctor says it is nothing to worry about. It will go away in due time and was probably caused by stress and that I should return in 2 weeks.
I decided to register somewhere else to check again.
