Just because Britney's featured doesn't mean it will get to #1. Britney did it because she loves the song, this is her first feature on a song.

Erm it's not even #1 on iTunes? Yes it's done well but it doesn't guarantee a number one single. The reception to it has been lukewarm, it's being played lots on radio yes but S&M has had strong airplay for weeks now, way before the remix was released. There's some radio stations that are refusing to play the remix though because they dislike the Britney edit. There's a strong chance it will get to #1, I can see that but Rihanna has a habit of gradually climbing to #1 in America, so S&M would have probably gotten there regardless of the remix.

A song doesn't have to be #1 on iTunes to get #1 on the charts in the US :S if fans request it enough then it counts towards the total Radio Spins for the week, and regardless of the reception, shit songs still get #1, just look at black an yellow () and that'll probably happen with this as the sales will be cumulative of both the remix and the normal version and It wouldn't have got #1 if the remix hadn't been released, next week Judas is released and that, (unless Beyonce's Girl is rush released due to a leak) would have probably topped the charts and S&M would have fallen.

I'm aware of that thanks, but it would help the song out if it were to be #1 on there. It's only been available since yesterday, airplay is still fairly low for it. You can't really say that, it was climbing the Hot 100 each week, a lot of people thought it had peaked yet last week it soared to #2. The airplay for S&M was huge before the remix was released, it's #1 on Pop songs and in the top 10 airplay charts. It could well have been #1 this week, even if there was no remix. The album version is still in the top 5 of iTunes.
