Renewed for a Third series, Pretty obvious it was going to be anyway considering it gets the best ratings on the CW

The CW announced Tuesday early pickups for five of its established series: “The Vampire Diaries,” “Supernatural,” “Gossip Girl,” “90210” and “America’s Next Top Model.”

All will return in the fall. And for die-hard fans of “ANTM,” an all-star edition will be in store, featuring the models who became “breakout characters” during their cycles. Additional deets about the cast, judges and prizes will be announced at a later time.

No word yet on the network’s other players: “One Tree Hill,” “Hellcats” and “Nikita.”

Didn't like Caroline at first but dying and becoming a vampire has seen her change for the better!

I'm surprised they're doing the sacrifice in the next episode, I thought it would be something they'd do in the season finale.

I thought the Klaus episode was decent although after the build up I'm not too impressed with him, Elijah is a more interesting character. The twist about the curse was a bit...bleh.

The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec admits it’s not easy to stay alive on a show like hers. Yeah, sometimes characters are safe for a (long) minute, but the brutal truth about TVD is you just never know who’s gonna go next. “Anything can happen at any time, and not everybody’s going to like it,” she tells Show Tracker. And considering about 20 characters are chillin’ in Mystic Falls as we speak, Plec says “a percentage of them... will not make it to Season 3.”

I hope Elijah doesn't die but then I can't see him become a permanent character, he wont be needed after this storyline ends.

We're probably going to be left on a big cliff hanger about who dies I reckon.

I thought that was good, purely because I couldn't see what reason would have for reversing the sun and moon curse when he can already walk in the sun

I think they could have come up with a better curse though, the whole 'master race' thing is a bit overdone.

yeah, what else is there to do on these kind of shows though really? I think True Blood did wonders in the originality front, but at the same time they all end up with similar "beings"

The idea of hybrids is an overplayed plot device though, making the villain posess the traits of two warring factions in the story is a good way of making them instantly dangerous.
