Default Do energy drinks really work?

Someone once told me it's more psychological than anything.

I've never felt much benefit from lucozade/powerade but I think Red Bull & Relentless etc. do a bit

Not for sports. I only used to take them to my football matches because I like the flavour.

This was about Lucozade/Powerade btw.

I'm not sure about Red Bull and the like. Then again, I've never really got on with caffeine. It always makes me crash instantly without giving me any energy. Not sure why.

They definately do work for awhile but then they crash you back to earth feeling more tired. That's why coffee without sugar is better for energy than with sugar.

Tweens definately do add on a placebo effect though. It's just a can of Monster your drinking you idiot. Stop thinking your doing speed from a can. Your not. It's different.

Caffeine works and has been scientifically proven to do so. It is deal for gym work but would be pretty useless for a marathon.

Energy drinks are all about marketing however.

If you want the caffeine effect then have a cup of nescafe.

Its no surprise that the main consumers are under 20 years old.

There's more caffeine in an energy drink ( a 500ml one anyway) then in a cup of coffee

Red Bull gives me far more energy than any cup of coffee on the planet.

8 oz of red bull has 80mg caffeine

7oz coffee has:

Drip 115-175
Brewed 80-135
Instant 65-100
Decaf, brewed 3-4

Caffeine isin't all that is in Red Bull though. I know taurine hasn't been proven yet to give energy in some circles but I believe what my body feels.
