Default Any reptile owners?

Okay so help me out here.

I'm really interested in owning either a Bearded Dragon or a Leopard Gecko, both of which are "beginner's reptiles" but I was wondering if any of you lot own either and could give me some of your own info.

I'm torn!

My tortoise lives in my garden. It is a big one though.

Brilliant! How big do they get fully grown? I've seen so many videos/pictures of different sized ones with no age on them that I honestly don't know.

& do they need a heat lamp too? I have a huge tank here from when we had fish (it's like 4 ft long) with a UV light inside so it'd just be a case of getting the heat lamp, decoration and the animal lol.

I know someone who has a Bearded Dragon. As far as I know you just need a certain lightbulb in the tank, don't know if you need more heat source in the winter though. My Sons had a Royal Python when they were younger, think they might have had a heat pad for it as well as the certain light bulb needed, and a stick on tank thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature of the tank. however, I would google as much info as possible to get a better idea of looking after say Lizards and Snakes.

Okay now I want one for christmas!

The only thing that's putting me off is having to feed them insects and sh*t - I don't like touching worms, crickets or ******ing mice.

HAHA same here! It's the bugs, not that I'm afraid just there's going to be bloody crickets in a tub jumping around in my bedroom!

I could have bought a tarantula today for Ł10, they just need a simple plastic tank and get fed 2 crickets once a week. It was nice and stuff but it filled my hand and the guy was like "Yeah it's about half it's full size now"... Nah you're alright pal... lol.

They can live for 100+ years. I doubt it's size you'd need to worry about
