No El Proximo thread is ever left without homophobia thrown in. In fact, I bet his main problem with this entire series is the gays.

Far from the hopes of a genuine reboot. No 're-imagining'. No years off. No fresh start. No reconstruction 'Back to Basics'. No return to the original 'serious' implications.

It's the worst case scenario. It is wringing-out the left-overs. A cheap 'knock-off' of C4s series resold to the public.
Exploiting what (its imagined) is Davina's hardcore die-hard fans. Flamboyant gays, loving Brian, love gay disco nightclubs and as many fake blondes and idiot barely-celebrities. Idiotic relationship nonsense.

OK, no need to analyze this much more. Its obvious what it is. It's terrible. A terrible mistake.

But when will it be cancelled?

By 'Cancelled' (in the case of this kind of program) it means cut-short. Wrapped-up. Early closure.
They will still do the various obligatory votes/winner etc.

I say it makes it only 70% through its scheduled run before it's told to wrap it up within a week or two at most.
And that will be the end.
Of Big Brother.

Feel free to put your predictions here.
I completely agree with these comments, it's nice to see someone objects the nonsense BB has produced. Not sure it will be cancelled though, judging by the reaction of some of the airheads on here.

And OP, I'm a flamboyant, slightly chubby (but not goth) gay
Hey 2 out of 3 ain't bad. But in fairness to me - I'm out of touch with the specific looks these days. I just say that to the types with Justin Beiber kind of sweepy hairstyles, painted finger nails, skinny jeans and whatever hip things.
I (wrongly) refer to this as kind of 'goth' sorta styles. I'm also becoming convinced all new music is sh*t too.

Quote:
and I don't care for Brian Dowling, gay disco nightclubs, many fake blondes and idiot barely-celebrities or the fake JJJ relationship
I wasn't really attributing that to the sort of chubby fashionably hip gay best friends. More to the girls who are with them.
They love Brian Dowling and JJJ. I would guess you were critical of Brian (and his clothes, camp, etc).

Quote:
You've posted 3 times in this thread and mentioned gays twice. I think your problem may be with something other than the new Big Brother.
Well I just watched a 'Gay Big Brother' but you are right I was more discussing my disappointment in how that was so cheaply aiming to exploit people like you.
Its pretty bad when I'm actually feeling 'insulted' FOR YOU.

I mean honestly.. don't you find it 'condescending'? I think its even worse this seems like a 'cheap grab' version of it too.
Weeee... we know you LOVE some 'catwalk struts' and gay club songs right? Weeee.. Dowling is gay just like you!
Weeeee... see.. here are some pink and rainbow lights flashing like you love them weeeee???

Honestly if I was a chubby gay 20 year old man with painted fingernails and one of those 'vest' shirts (is it called a 'cardigan'?),
and,
I was watching this cheap pander? I'd be annoyed.
Quote:
I want to see an entertaining non-fake *cough-BB11-cough* show. As it is only the first night I will reserve judgement.
Normally I'd agree with the part about giving it some time. But this was so blatantly cheap and exploitative and so obviously a tacky and half-arsed attempt..
..i just want to predict it dies right off the start.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think it wraps early and (by the end) the ratings tanking fast.

How can you base everything on the launch? Give it at least a week, far too judgemental otherwise.

Often my opinions will change after giving it a week. I also considered the possibility (and based on some inside gossip) that this was deliberately something like a 'prank'.
But wow.. nope. I am sure this is just the very worst case scenario - milking this for the last cheap drops left-over from C4

what gets me interested in the characters is when i can't sleep and switch on the night feed and become fascinated by a late night conversation or even if i'm lucky a drama of some sort unfolding....without that i doubt i'll continue to watch.

No. There is nothing 'mystic' about it. It's something like this:

- BB was losing more and more of the broader general audience. It was reducing itself to a 'core' audience of hardcore fans and found it self more and more reliant on appealing 'down' to that core.

IF 5 believed they could 'reverse' this they would. They would be making efforts to 'expand' the appeal. This could mean alienating some of what we will call the 'Gay and JJJ' crowd,
but,
at the benefit of bringing back some mainstream masses and bringing in a 'new generation' of youth.

But they did not. They went for the desperate last-chance solution that C4 was already squeezing dry.
Only difference is theirs is cheaper, tackier, crass and so desperate as to be condescending.
But it is a sure sign they gave up before it started. They are absolutely NOT in this to build anything.
This is NOT going to be here for any kind of 'resurrection' or any such thing.

It is clearly for squeezing the last drops out of the hardcore 'Gay and JJJ' people left-over from the real series.

This reminds me (and I suppose this is lost on most here) but this reminds me of the old USA sitcom trends.
If you had a successful comedy you would make cheap 'quick-buck' spin-offs. Usually around whatever other wacky zany characters got the cheap laughs.
Then you milked that spin-off with every gimmick, cliche and annoying catchprase.
and when that quickly ran out of steam you brought in a precocious child and then a talking dog and finally Fonzie is jumping sharks in a very special Hawaii 2-parter.

No mystic predictions here. This is just the ugly truth in front of your nose.

Well the launch had a peak of 6 million and an average of 5 million and BOTS had 1.6 million so lets all laugh at ElProximo.

With ratings like these it will sure stay around for a while! it all depends on how well the rest of the series dows though, launch nights usually do good anyway.

You can't laugh yet. You don't know anything yet. You have to keep something in mind:
This is not just a case of a delayed start or lack of competition or that there was a CBB opening with potential stars.
This was the first night of what (maybe) was the entirely new BB. I suspect a lot of people like me (non-gayJJJ) and 'Purist' who remember hearing 'Back to Basics'.

What you want to see is how many RETURN and carry on watching. I suspect a whole lot of your 'mainstream masses' was sorely disappointed and won't be coming back.
I suspect you see the numbers drop far and wide once we get a few weeks into the scripted regular series.

Maybe I'm wrong but you have no reason to believe anything yet.

Obvious. Anyone with any depth in their character cannot really like something that is the antithesis. It sounds judgemental, but in reality, we all are. Anyone who is indiviualistic and does not like the way modern society is going, will be fine with the show. Airhead is perhaps the wrong word, non thinking conformist may be better.
