Im really crestfallen its really given me a horrible gutted feeling i have defended this show against haters for years but now i just feel defeated, deflated and demoralised
I like the faster tone to the show im not sold on the style of editing but it doesnt bother me but cutting off the entire online community by strangling them to death
what the hell C5 its broken you need to at least address the obvious.

Live feed cannot be the reason for the drop in ratings because only 81,000 people bought the feed in BB11 and that still got an average of 2.7m. People just don't like the show anymore. Hell, even BB10 averaged 2.5m and that didn't have Live Feed either. Sure, it had some at night, but I highly doubt those few hours they gave us are the reason people kept watching the show. I bet a lot didn't even watch those hours they gave us.

I'm not going to deny it's good for the show, I can see some of the rreeaallly big fans will stop watching because there isn't any LF. I can't imagine there are many who will stop watching because of that reason alone though.

My guess is that people don't like the show, didn't want to carry on watching on C5, they don't like the editing and they don't like the housemates. The launch got 5.2m and the next show got 3.7m, that's what's so annoying. Clearly the audience for the show is still there, they producers just keep getting it wrong for some reason. Something is putting people off watching. I imagine it's the lack of many real celebrities which is a big factor in why people gave up on it.

86000 households may have brought live feed last year not individuals.
Even those who choose not to watch live feed are now admitting there is nothing to talk about. They would have got info from live feed viewers and that would in turn create a buzz and talk at school/college/work etc
The editing from what i have seen is not up to scratch either from C4 standards and the content is so poor that even the main show is leaving very little to talk about
C5 have ignored what is the main priciple of the show to be availabe to watch 24/7 even if you choose not to do so.
facebook and twitter are a farce with their constant deleting and blocking anyone who is not in the Happy House.
Evictions are turning into a non event as even the casual viewer would want to see the events in the house for an hour or two

yes there is an audience for the show but C5 have missed out big time here live feed would have been a big part of the show to Jedward fans and im sure there seemed more who wanted to view this time round compared to last year, seeing as it was new and on a different channel

People in schools and workplaces can still talk about what happened in the highlights show, it's the online forums that are affected most by the lack of live feed. Don't get be wrong, i'm not saying that having no live feed is fine and no one cares about it because I know that's wrong and many people DO care about it, i'm just saying that I can't imagine the majority of the audience would stop watching for that reason alone. Just looking through BB5-BB9, they all had live feed and yet the ratings were still dropping series by series, it's no surprise that it's got to the low 2m point that it's at now because it was always going to end up here. People don't care about the show anymore.

Jedward fans are still watching the show though even though there's no live feed, and 86,000 people or 86,000 households, doesn't really matter. At the most i'd say that number would affect a total of 100,000 people at most which, if all of BB11's audience watched this series, should have meant there would only be a drop of 100,000 viewers so this series would have got an average of 2.6.

I think for BB12 they should really bring back live feed on either 5* or the website just to satisfy those who want it and see if it does really bring back a mahoosive amount of people like some claim it will do. I can't imagine it would but even if it can add an extra 25,000 people that's still something. I genuinely do think it would be hard for them to reach the point of around 3m people per night these days though, even if they had unlimited free live feed, amazing editing and amazing housemates. The public just doesn't care anymore to watch them for weeks on end every night.

We are not talking about live feed viewers we are talking about the buzz live feed brings.

When people watch live feed know whats going on in the house word spreads as they tell their friends ect....

The media can grab live pictures and create stories hence getting headlines and more interest.

Live feed lets us connect with the show but without it Big Brother is no longer a big deal its just a tv show....aka TOWIE

And bay BB11 averaged 2.9 not 2.7 and BB10 did have live feed throughout the night which imo help people connect more with the housemates and regular updates on the C4 website.

I'm sure it does do good for the show, but even if there was live feed and people were talking about it and headlines being made, I just genuinely don't see that bringing in hundreds of thousands of more viewers. I think there's only a handful of people who genuinely care about what's happening in the house, and probably 90% of those are already watching the highlights now. That's just my opinion - if you guys think i'm wrong then that's fine. I'm not here to cause an argument with the live feed people or anything like that.

I can't imagine many headlines were being created from the housemates sleeping. yeah, ok, i'm sure they were awake for a little while but I doubt many front page news stories were being created at those times of the night.

I think one of the main problem this year is it seems everynight its clashing with another big show. During the summer when its normally on theres hardly anything to watch apart from BB. Come Autumn loads of shows come back on air.

Erm.....

Thats alot of people.

Defo helps spread the word socially hence bringing in ratings for the show.

I'm sure it does get people watching it. I'm sure it does make people talk about the show. All i'm saying is, to those who don't like/watch the show, does hearing "last night Mario had to pretend to be a mole!" really make them want to watch the show? Would that make hundreds of thousands of people flock to their tv's at 10pm just because they were told that? I know I don't rush home to watch TOWIE just because I hear people talking about all the crazy stuff good old Mark and Amy did in the previous show.

Clearly we both don't have the same opinions so i'm just going to stop posting here now because this will just be an endless 'i think this', 'i think this' conversation which doesn't reach any conclusion. I understand where you are coming from, I just personally don't believe that live feed is the reason the ratings are dropping.

People can be forgiven for not knowing last nights "secret" eviction

But tonight is the true test...The regular Friday eviction show.

Good news......

Cahnnel 5 have beat Channel 4 in the ratings

Overall, ITV1 soared back into the lead in Thursday primetime with 24.8% (+1: 0.7%) against BBC One's 19%. BBC Two came third with 7.4%, ahead of Channel 5's 5.5% and Channel 4's 4.6% (+1: 1%).

Atleast theres something positive? lol

If it was on at 9 it would clash with more programs surley, meaning that the % would be lower, even if the numbers were up?

Agree 110% on everything you said here, especially that second part.

Think it will struggle tonight as MPD is back and a new series of outnumbered starts too on BBC1.

Celebrity Big Brother 2011 BARB official ratings are out for the first five days:

18/8 - 5.27m (launch)
19/8 - 3.37m
20/8 - 3.15m
21/8 - 2.47m
22/8 - 2.69m

The official average for the first 5 days was: 3.39m

Not a good timeshift for the first 2 shows, the rest, especially Saturdays, timeshifted brilliantly.
