I dunno if it's true but I've heard more people speak Irish in America than they do in Ireland

They claim to be Italian on Jersey shore. But clearly are very much American in all their brash, loud, aggressive glory.

It's just a clan thing, wanting to be part of a certain group. And America is very much about groups. Everybody and everything seems to be categorised and labelled.
