Default £1.2m raised for charity

Teletext are reporting that over £1.2m was raised for charity from the phone voting this year.

The money raised will be split equally between three charities - Shelter, a teenage cancer charity and a third of the winner's choice, taking the winners total prize to £500,000.

Over £250,000 was raised from the controversial "Bring back" vote where all C4's and Endemol's proceeds were donated to charity on top of the usual 10p per vote.

This would mean in the normal evictions and the final a total 9.5 million votes were cast.

Which doesn't seem very many! I wonder if the ever increasing cost of phoning the program is having an effect on the number of people voting.

So the shows producers must be chuffed when added to the £60,000 per hour of television provided they get.
