Default Dangerous lies....

Regarding the riots up and down the country, what was pledged to not be affected?
Frontline police officers
I can understand the need for streamlining, however if we were placed in a similar situation again would we cope following cuts?

The number of police dealing with 999 emergencies has fallen by more than 5,000 since the last general election, according to new figures that seriously undermine David Cameron's pledge to be defending "frontline" forces from spending cuts.

The figures, compiled from responses to freedom of information requests from all 43 forces in England and Wales, are a severe embarrassment to the government, which has insisted that its 20% funding cuts will not compromise public safety or the fight against crime.

Labour described the job losses among so-called "first responders" – those following up on 999 calls – as "shocking" and said they raised new questions about whether the public could trust the government
All governments lie, but this Conservative Cameron government talks the most appalling bollox - it just invents the truth to suit the situation, letting the bankers loot the country as the rest of us slip towards poverty and chaos

If cuts are being made across the board then it was always obvious Police frontline numbers would be cut, the Conservatives said that cuts had to be made but didn't see that such cuts wold mean a drastic loss of frontline policing numbers.

The cuts were too severe and too fast, hence the rpoblem now with the Police, however the Govt would say the decisions on staffing really are down to the authorities themselves.

All Govts do lie, however it would be a hard task to find any Govt from the post war era, that misled so much the voters in an election like this coalition.

The Lib Dems sold them sleves completely for a few miserable ministerial positions and a say in Govt for 5 years at least. Never forget that the Conservative could not get a single bill passed in Parliament without the votes of the Lib Dems supporting them.

Police numbers are likely to get worse as more cuts start to bite too,we saw the start of what would be the likly future of policing in ths UK, where forces from other areas have to brought in to support any area with a flash problem.
This coalition has really not very much credibility left whatsoever and even some things they are doing were not even in either party's manifestos,so the public have never had a chance to vote on such policies.

Policing reductions is another such result of badly planned and ill thought out policies by this coalition, there wil be a lot more to come.
What is also worrying is the alternative to this Govt. However this coalition is gone at the next election anyway, for one reason with 3 capital letters, the NHS.

??

Been reading a lot about privatisation of the Police recently, to save funds many police services are being outsourced to private firms.
Quote:
He said there were already instances where private firms carried out policing-related functions, such as store detectives who detain shoplifters, security staff patrolling public spaces, monitoring CCTV in public spaces, and transporting prisoners between court and prison.

Is this a good thing, to give anyone with an SIA licence responsibility in these areas?
