Default 'EastEnders' exit for Anthony Moon confirmed
EastEnders antiques dealer Anthony Moon is to leave the soap, Digital Spy can confirm.

The shop manager, played by Matt Lapinskas, will depart screens in the coming weeks after less than a year in Walford.

Lapinskas, confirming his exit, commented: "I'm having a fantastic time working on EastEnders and playing the role of Anthony Moon. Working with David Essex, Tony Discipline and the EastEnders cast has been an absolute pleasure.

"Although I will really miss EastEnders and everyone involved, I am very excited about future projects and what is next for me as an actor."

Anthony turned up on Albert Square last July, just a few weeks after his dad Eddie and brother Tyler.

His storylines have included short-lived romances with Poppy Meadow and Amira Shah, as well as a dangerous encounter with the villainous Derek Branning.

I got worried when I read the title, thought Michael Moon was leaving.

I doubt most will miss him. According to The Daily Mail, he has in fact been axed:

"He's the loveable rogue of the square, with a cheeky answer for everything, but EastEnders' bosses have decided even Anthony Moon can't talk his way out of dismal ratings and axed the character.

As millions of viewers abandon what used to be Britain's best soap, producers hope the shock departure of actor Matt Lapinskas will be enough to lure fans back.

Ratings for the soap have plummeted to less than six million, an almost record low for the show which in it's heyday managed to pull in more than 30million viewers."

The one who plays Anthony is dating Whitney in real life so don't think it matters. Actually, I remember there being something in the papers about them being thrown out of Asda for something. lol I think they were feeding each other yoghurt before paying for it.

But tbh, Tyler is the one who frustrates me the most.
