also your claim that deaths by guns is as high in europe as america is a lie. also the european population in total is almst twice as much as america. however it is the death rate per person we need to concern ourselves with here. america has harsher sentences , longer sentences, more executions, yet still the gun murders are miles and miles ahead of the rest of the civilized world? I want to see this reduced ? do you? Ive made my suggestions, what are yours>?
you obviously didn't read my post. I said that homicide rates (by any means) is similar in Europe. You missed the entire point of my post obviously.

I never said "by guns". the entire point of my post is that Europe has similar homicide rates, even though it's not by guns. why are you so obsessed with guns??

...AND you totally ignored my point about South America having way less guns and far stricter gun laws, but having way more homicide rates...

you missed my points too in my original post and my previous one. I have read your reply. There was very little substance in it. you simply swore a lot and made false claims and appeared to suppport keeping easy access to guns for everyone including lunatics such as the recent killer? youre attitude appears to be who cares keep the guns flooding onto the streets. you have also totally ignored all my questions in a very cowardly way. clearly you think your own ego and appearing cool is more important than the deaths of 8775 mostly innocent people? youre attitude is a disgrace.

you seem obsessed with swear words. please count the number of swear words i used. tell me how many. i was not swearing at you. You are being ridiculous now, to the point that it's actually hard to tell if you are being serious.

I am not a disgrace, i'm simply challenging your bigoted stereotypes.

i don't know where you get the 8775 figure from, but i'd like to see you produce a figure of the number of Europeans killed in the same time frame, do you have that number too?? or are you just spouting figures with nothing to compare it to??

unlike you I actually do my homeork and I do know my figures. if you wish to have a proper debate I suggest you do likewise , rather than make up figures to suit your own twisted argument. I believe you are a bigot, you abuse people on here , you name call them and you swear constantly, in addition to providing false information. I dont spout, these figures were deaths by guns last year as Ive stated a few times already.

the first thing everyone needs to do is understand one simple point, more guns in the system , do not make you safer, they make you much more endangered and thousands more innocent people will die, that is a tragic fact that will get worse and worse the more guns we see and the more hype and hysteria we see spouted on news channel allowed to lie such as fox news (which is banned in some nations like canada where gun crime is tiny compared to usa)

in england 39 people were shot dead last year, in america it was 8775

the national rifle association are mega powerful and make billions, time for obama to win the election then have an unarmed showdown once and for all with these crazy money grabbing gun slinging zealaots.

live nationwide debate, in which the sheer logic and human decency of starting to disarm america must begin as the true agenda of the gun supporters is exposed as a violent money anti-patriotic grabbing sham

In the meantime my thoughts and prayers go to all the victims and injured people affected by the latest shooting tragedy

A total ban on guns is unrealistic but I'd definitely welcome a more strict form of Gun Control as the laws seem quite flimsy. There should be more checks involved in getting a gun. Psych Evaluations, criminal and medical record checks ETC. Guns should only be owned by the few responsible people who aren't going to misuse them or allow anyone else to misuse them either.

I find the idea of having a gun for protection a little ridiculous anyway, you're more likely to hurt a family member or a friend then you are an intruder or someone that means you harm.

Unless you fully understand how the USA was founded, formed and is run it is a fairly useless debate to have, to compare stats wth the UK is rather pointless.

every country in europe and the commonwealth , bar south africa has vastly lower rates of murder per head than the USA and the gun murder rates are vastly higher in america than all of these nations....Im not yank bashing I love america, but seriously this has gone on unabated for far too long now....its time to get sensible and all parties , regardless of personal self interest must tighten these laws 100% in order to protect innocent people. over 300 million guns in circulation is insane and any crazy fool can get hold of them so easily, even worse is the fact this lunatic got hold of a gun that fires 100 bullets a minute plus smoke bombs and body armour, Im pretty certain those great men who wrote the constitution and declaration (most of whom were welsh and scots by the way) did not write it with the intention that a lunaic could shoot 70 innocent people in 3 minutes.

once my again my thoughts and prayers go out to all these families

This is the only thing America can do.

I hate it when people from other countries believe that we should conform to laws like this.

Sure I'm being a tad bit hypocritical since America's doing that all the time sort of but those countries aren't fully developed yet.

its usuallyy america demanding other nations conform to their way of living isnt it?

Im simply making suggestions for ways to improve the situation and saving all these thousands of innocent people getting murdered....to be blunt your ego is getting in the way of accepting some well intentioned advice...personally I criticize britain all the time , even though its my country and I love it....I realise its pretty crap in may areas....the private sector is weak, weve turned our back on industries and apprenticeships etc etc but I still listen to constructive advice...feel free to criticize the UK constructively and Ill happilly look at your opinions

That wasn't what he said, though, was it?

Corrrect me if I'm wrong but I believe Roy Mars was responding to the thread title, not the plethora of ridiculous and ill-informed posts on this page.

Who the hell are you to declare other peoples opinions in an online debate ridiculous and ill-informed how ignorant and rude.

I'm a person. I know these are people's views and I respect that. I then went on to offer my opinions. Or is that somehow different?

Not the right section to be in if you don't want to hear other people's views though is it.

We banned handguns in the UK soon after Dunblane. Now sportsmen and women in this country cannot carry out their sport because of the ban and if they do it seriously they have to practise abroad. However, if I wanted to get myself a handgun I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard. The knee-jerk blanket ban in the UK has meant only that the the handguns that are around are illegal ones, and here are plenty of them. Only ligitimate sportsmen and women seem to have been affected. Now only the bad guys and the police have them. Hardly a solution.

True but at least we're not afraid to go to the Cinema incase we get gunned down in this country, I know it's only one case but no other country has ever had a case like that before.

It's ashame though because America has loads of great stuff that I would want to see but there's to many psychopaths in the country.

Utter drivel....300million + guns in america, you call that a solution?

thats 1 gun per person, how do you think London would be with 10 million guns floating around? Get a grip
