Default Do you believe in 'karma'...

..do you like to get 'revenge' on someone or do you let go of things and leave it to the hands of fate...do you have any karma stories..?..

I tend to fantasise about people who have wronged me having something awful happen to them but I'd never go out and get revenge on anyone even if I really hated them... for example, I had a friend who I'd been friendly with for about 4 years when he did something fairly mean to me and I just decided to bail out of the friendship at that point. He had been bullied when he was younger (before I knew him) and as a result he had this victim mentality to everything in life, yet he was also a really horrible person (as is often the case when someone is bullied - they become a bully themselves)...

Anyway, I decided to stop being friends with him after he'd done this particularly horrible thing to me after years of him trying to compete with me and putting me down in front of people whenever he could; and that was that (this was 2 years ago)... Then about 8 months later, someone I know who doesn't even know the guy told me that he was in a relationship but he was cheating all the time. This was the perfect opportunity to get revenge and grass him up for cheating but instead I sent him a message over Facebook telling him that there were people saying he was cheating and while I didn't know or care if that was true, I just thought he ought to know that people were saying things about him because it's horrible when people say things about you that aren't true (this was why we had fallen out - he was telling people things about me that weren't true) and to me, that felt much better than getting petty revenge. He said thank you and that he hoped we could be friends again one day but that is not something I am interested in (at least, not at this point in my life - maybe in a few years if we still run in the same circles I would be, but I don't see that happening.)

My usual method of dealing with ***** is just to give them enough rope to hang themselves with, those kind of people can always be depended on to screw their own lives up all by themselves.

It takes a lot to stir me into action but when you push me far enough I will figuratively take a flame to your entire life and laugh while I watch it burn.

I believe in what goes around, comes around, and that you get back pretty much what you give out.

I don't believe in a mystical, universe exacting revenge sort of Karma but I do believe if you're an arsehole and do bad things to people people will probably not like you very much and may do bad things back to you

It's all relative as well I think... if bad things happen to someone you perceive as bad, you're gonna want to believe that they had it coming.

I think people will already know my opinions on any kind of thing that involves the universe getting it's own back.

I do agree with Niamhs version though, because it's rational - if you continually treat people really poorly, then eventually they'll wise up and turn the tables.

No I dont believe in karma, to many murderers, child molesters and rapists etc getting away with their crimes. However, I do believe that if people do ill will and are not psychopaths then their sub conscience will eventually catch up with them and inevitability they will get caught out by their own behaviour.

Therefore, I tend to hand things over to the universe or that persons subconscious and give myself a time limit if I want to seek vengence. What I find is that alot of people get found out as a person continues to behave a certain way they eventually get caught out and exposed. I dont like to make myself feel bad by doing something that tampers with my self worth or morality just for revenge, that person has then gained power over you twice.

But i do need to say to myself I'll give it a year or two, theres never a time limit, thats where the inital person makes a mistake, by passing the power to you you dont have to react on impulse, its better to deal with your feelings first.

Its a wicked web we weave when we set out to deceive
if you seek revenge dig two graves
Nothing good is achieved in anger
Revenge is a dish best served cold
If you let others have control over you you might as well be a puppet to society
Two sayings: its a wicked

One time I accidentally stole like Ł11 worth of vodka and mixers from Sainsburys, and then because I was so drunk I got Ł20 out the atm and gave it to a homeless guy.

I agree with it. If anyone is nasty to me usually it's best just to sit back and then fate does something bad to them. If I do something bad (rarely) I will think "**** karma is coming to get me". Yes definitely believe it. We all go through good times and **** times and times in between. I am probably more times in between. You only get out what you put in.

God I love a good Karma, but it's not as spicy as Jalfreezi or Rogan Josh.

I don't think there is such a thing as karma. If it truly existed as a force in this universe like let's say gravity, then we'd be able to simply prove it was there. We could do some sort of simple test, like letting go of an object and watching gravity pull it to the ground.

Instead if we look at what happens in this world, the innocent are often the ones who are inflicted with horrible illnesses, they are the ones who suffer from starvation, the ones who are exploited. So if we say karma exists, I believe we are condoning their suffering as something they brought upon themselves. I don't think that's right.

Karma is just a fairytale. Something that makes this random world seem more orderly than it is.
