They aren't different circumstances at all. My original point was that there's been no discussions on here that the large majority of 13 year olds wouldn't understand, in which case banning them to 'protect their innocence' or whatever is an unnecessary reason, it changes nothing.

As for the parents asking what they're doing online and not assuming there'd be sexual discussions on a Big Brother forum...I really, really don't think that should be the top of their priorities, considering there is actual depictions of sex available for them to watch quite freely, which they probably are watching (not that I think there's anything wrong with that either but that's a separate discussion altogether), so this issue pales into insignificance in that respect anyway.

I'm not really bothered on this issue either way, the main reason I posted in the first place was because I objected to the idea that they should be banned because of the 13 year olds on here.

I agree with you here. I'm 25 also and find it not only mortifying but also very creepy when certain members talk about things in very graphic detail knowing there are minors on here. And its not only in specific threads but in some of the communal chat threads too.

no, what you want is to have total control over this site and only let members make threads if they are approved by you and what you think personally is appropriate.

I don't mind tongue in cheek humour, there have been threads discussing some very risque topics and I think they are inappropriate. There is an 18+ bit for that stuff, as said there are plenty of forums specifically for adult conversation I don't think that here is the place.

..there is a huge difference between posting a hypothetical dilemma and making more personal adult posts, as there is a difference in something being a news story etc ...I personally agree with Eoin, there have been times when I haven't felt comfortable with things discussed in threads so I have just left them or ignored a conversation if it's a chat thread... one of the things about this site/forum is that it has a huge age range of people and that those people all mix together, not separate off into different 'age groups' otherwise it won't be the forum it is anymore and what makes it different from many others and there also aren't enough 'regular' members for that to happen either..there are many sites that have adult sections so if that's people's preference, then there are alternatives, while still being on TiBB for the more 'family/community' feel of it...

You'll not be thrilled with me sheriff when I make this post (and you know I like a bit of cheeky banter and I'm not a prude) but Josy's spot on here. I've seen a lot of comments recently that are very graphic and crude, one example being references to rough sex, and some quite derogatory stuff. There was even a post made in Meet the Members where someone asked another member to Skype with him. Massively iffy. And it's not all from one member so I'm not singling anyone out but it's a select few. The majority don't do it, and there's nothing wrong with banter, to a reasonable extent, but there's a line that shouldn't be crossed.

Ammi's thread was a moral dilemma thread. There was nothing whatsoever explicit, graphic or disturbing about it.

I'd rather the whole forum was 18+ than have a separate section. Children shouldn't be watching big brother anyway, don't they have homework to do? I guess it's in the summer, so they aren't in school, but they should be at camp or something.

Anyways, I think registration should be for 18+, then we wouldn't have to worry about it.

How many members do we actually have that are under 18 anyway? do the mods have any stats on that?

..no one read about rape, it was referred to as a dilemma topic..it's interesting that you specifically refer to a post of mine when there are so many 'explecit' posts/threads you could have referred to, if you felt the need to single any out..anyway, it's not interesting enough for me to want to pursue your persistent targeting of me..I don't think that being an 'adult' is just to do with an age, it's also a level of maturity that even some quite 'mature' adults don't always have....

Dear me. You'd be culling at least half the members if that was implemented. There's tons of other sites if you desire to talk sexually graphic. This is for reality tv.
