Unhappy Spilt milk on my computer!! :/

Ok so we have a desktop computer, and I just spilt my breakfast on the actual computer box. It only seemed to land on the top and drip down the sides abd I dont think it went inside the actual box, at least I dont see how it could have gotten inside. I wiped the milk off anbd the computer was turnped on at the time it happened. It still seemed to work and didnt shut down by itself or anything. Will it be ok??

Yeah I think its all wiped off. I just turned the computer back on again and yeah it still seems to work. I dont think the computer as making any noises that it wouldnt normally make. So hopefully that means panic over.

This thread should be serialised into a dramatic TV miniseries blockbuster. I'd watch...

At the end of the last episode, when all is happy and safe, the camera zooms slowly on the the computer. All of a sudden, smoke begins to rise out of the vents, sparks blaze into life.... Fade to black.

You should probably treat it the same as any other electrical piece of equipment that has gotten wet, let it dry off and erm not plug it in for a few hours.

The insides will be fine, if a few drops got in there, which is doubtful, the fan and the heat in there will take care of it.

Do the same to a laptop though and kiss it goodbye. Partly the reason I have a desktop.

I kinda' passed out when i was smashed off my face one night using my laptop and i had a cup of coffee in my hand at the time. I came around about 10 hours later to discover i'd dumped the whole cup of coffee on my laptop (onto and straight through the keyboard!). It was less than a year old at the time but i didn't have accidental damage cover on it.
Once it had 'dried' into a sticky gloop inside my computer i switched it on and it did sort of boot up but the memory chips that were right in the centre at the bottom were fried so i phoned up Dell and told them that my ROM had just stopped working and they sent me a new ROM board. So that got the computer running mostly but the keyboard ever worked again so i had to use an external keyboard for the rest of the life of that laptop. I think the fact that i had around four sugars in my coffee at the time didn't help!

I got three years accidental damage cover on my next laptop and never spilled a bloody thing on that one! If i'd remembered i would have dumped a can of coke on it a month before the cover ran out....damn!!!

The one and only laptop i've ever had, I had for less than 6 months before I tipped coffee on it and it was useless from then on. I paid about £400 for it as well. Learnt my lesson. Desktop PCs for me from now on.

Then it gets recast with a Mac, the ratings dwindle and it's cancelled.
