I kinda' passed out when i was smashed off my face one night using my laptop and i had a cup of coffee in my hand at the time. I came around about 10 hours later to discover i'd dumped the whole cup of coffee on my laptop (onto and straight through the keyboard!). It was less than a year old at the time but i didn't have accidental damage cover on it.
Once it had 'dried' into a sticky gloop inside my computer i switched it on and it did sort of boot up but the memory chips that were right in the centre at the bottom were fried so i phoned up Dell and told them that my ROM had just stopped working and they sent me a new ROM board. So that got the computer running mostly but the keyboard ever worked again so i had to use an external keyboard for the rest of the life of that laptop. I think the fact that i had around four sugars in my coffee at the time didn't help!

I got three years accidental damage cover on my next laptop and never spilled a bloody thing on that one! If i'd remembered i would have dumped a can of coke on it a month before the cover ran out....damn!!!
