One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has launched a scathing attack at BBC talent show The Voice UK – days before the show returns with a fourth series on Saturday evening.

The 23-year-old singer hit out on Tuesday morning, posting two tweets in which he criticised the show for recent unfavourable comments about ITV rival The X Factor.

Taking to Twitter he wrote: ‘Is bad mouthing The X Factor the only way The Voice knows how to promo their show? #everyyear.’

Minutes later he dismissed it as a comparative minnow, writing: ‘It’s like Accrington Stanley trying to compete with Real Madrid…’

as much of a silly tampon he is, The Voice is pathetic and totally useless at finding successful artists (I can't think of anyone other than Becky Hill who's had hits, let alone well-selling albums)

It's a more enjoyable show IMO and that's all I watch it for, don't care too much what happens with the contestants afterwards

That's all any of them are good for; it's just that one of the shows has a music label ready to manufacture the contestants straight into an album campaign within a year of finishing which is why it has successful stars launched from it. Both shows are just platforms for their respective "judges" to promote themselves and build on their careers, they aren't about the contestants appearing on them or about finding a new star.

As for Louis Tomlinson - he's got a big mouth for someone who can't hold a tune. I'd cheer if he died.
