After the 2nd season i'd have easily picked Shane but Ricks character has progressed a lot since then.. Hes more intimidating and looks more like a leader. He's a much better character now than he was.

Shane.. He was 4 seasons ahead of the rest of them in terms of development, they are all now in the same mindset that he was in back in the first and second season.
