Apparently Hotel could be set in the 1930s, during the 'Golden Age' of Hollywood.

Although i'd be perched for them playing famous celebs for that time involved in really awful stuff like murder and torture and sick stuff that you always hear about happening back then

If done properly, setting it in the 30s could be quite good.

If it was set in the modern day I could see it being a bit too "666 Park Avenue" tbh.

I remember them using the Psycho music in season 1.

They did do a lot of horror movie homages back then.

I finished Coven this evening!

Spoilers in here..
Spoiler:

I have to say, in terms of storyline I think Coven was stronger than Asylum, especially with the end of the story/conclusion. I think that with Asylum the story had been told within 11 episodes and the last two were pointless and just for the sake of filling up the time. I think Coven was better in this sense, with the story actually carrying on right until the end with a satisfying conclusion. There weren't as many scary aspects to Coven which I enjoyed. I think that helped me enjoy it that little bit more.

I liked how Coven was set in modern day too. Madison and Queenie were brilliantly written characters. I think the storyline with Fiona and Cordelia was an interesting addition to the story with the lack of mother/daughter love with and Cordelia becoming the supreme.

That brings me to the only bit I found boring. I hated how the characters were constantly saying "I'm the supreme" and bickering over it. It felt a bit repetitive and it really got boring near the end. I felt that the storyline involving Marie Laveau could have had a bigger ending than her just being killed and sent to hell? It felt a bit... underwhelming and like it had just been brushed under the carpet. Overall though I really enjoyed the series.

I can't wait to hear details on Hotel

I had high expectations for Freakshow (which dissapointed me), but I have a feeling Hotel will be a really good one.

I'm intrigued by hotel unlike the other names e.g. Murder house, freakshow it doesn't really give a lot away about what will be happening. I hope Gaga doesn't disappoint which I'm sure she won't I'm just awaiting the return of her teacup she used to always carry around tbh

No.

The story of Coven was piss poor, there was no overall plot and any attempts to form a coherent plotline were dropped every few episodes for something else. Asylum told a complete story from start to finish, it was focused and while it wasn't perfect it was miles upon miles better than the hack and slash ****stain that was Coven.

Well, that's what I thought. I found Asylum more entertaining, but I did enjoy Coven.

Just finished Coven...

Spoiler:

I'll agree with some of the comments in this thread - the story was a bit all over the place. Stories were picked up and dropped after just a few episodes (The Minotaur Man attacking the house once and raping Queenie only to never be talked about again is a prime example) as somebody already said, and I actually couldn't wait to finish the series. I think the characters and the original backstory is what made me keep watching - I think some of the characters (Madison, Misty, Myrtle) are some of the best from the show, and I liked the take on comedy.

I think the show lacked any grittiness - Asylum had a lot in the Bloody Face murder spree both past and present, Dr Arden's work, Lana, Jude and Kit being false imprisoned, the electroshock therapy ect, as did Murder House with the backstories of the back street abortions, baby murders, and the constant death. Coven had no real grittiness apart from Kathy Bates' obsession with experimenting on black men, and I think this is what provided me with the most interest - in another season it probably would have just been another sub plot but because there was no other gritty plots I was hooked. The Axeman thing also provided a bit of interest, but could have been explored further than the 5 mins we got at the beginning of the episode - other than that he was just a love sick puppy for Fiona and randomly gained superpowers to murder all those men.

Anyway, the characters were good and I loved Cordealia as the supreme. Angela Bassett was also an amazing addition to the cast and I loved her character - I felt her and Kathy Bates' characters deserved more of a climax than just being sent to hell though. I liked Fiona's ending and it was well deserved. So yeah, wasn't enough gritty for me but the characters were fierce and I enjoyed a few moments - it wasn't all bad, there was just not enough strong plots like there should be in AHS to keep me gripped besides Kathy Bates' backstory and Who Is The Supreme?

I agree. I'd have liked more of a conclusion to the Angela Bassett/Kathy Bates stuff rather than focussing the last few episodes entirely on the bickering teenagers trying to outdo one another.
