But even without his horn, keepers in the Kenyan reserve of Ol Pojeta in fear for his safety. ![]() The 43-year-old rhino - who could live until his 50s - is the last chance for any future northern white rhino calves. Sudan was moved, along with two female rhinos, from a zoo in the Czech Republic in December 2009. The reserve, which specialises in the conservation of rhinos, was chosen because of its successful breeding programme with black rhinos. It's about time they started making examples of poachers and of the people who buy this stuff. Hit them hard and make sure no one ever wants to do it again.

If it makes you feel any better, bull rhinos are solitary and certainly dont "socialise"(?) with other males, other than when knocking lumps out each other in competition for females. Though I guess he doesn't have that problem...
Anyway, yes, this is very sad if it spells the end of a species. I'm a believer in evolution and it's just the case that some species will eventually die out if they fail to adapt - but that's not what's happening here. If left alone these creatures are perfectly capable of surviving... their only problem is stupid bloody humans and their greed. Money, as always. There really couldn't be anything LESS natural. |
